Kick back and relax in this new (9/2024) calm & stylish space set in 50 acres at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve. Pets, including horses, are welcome. The space Comus Sky Farm is a 2-level country estate built in 1973. The views are of forest, fields and Sugarloaf Mountain. Apart from the occasional sounds of dogs barking, gunshot (in season), & air traffic heading to and from DC, it is extremely quiet and private. Sugarloaf Mountain, a distinctive monadnock, is managed as both a nature preserve and public recreation area. “Sugarloaf Mountain” is a misnomer. It’s actually a big hill. It looms 800 feet above rolling farmlands about 30 miles northwest of Washington. For hikers, the 3,300-acre property offers good trails, a lung-and-muscle workout, and a great natural setting. At its best, it’s wildflower pretty in spring, green-bower scenic in summer, and turning-leaf colorful in autumn. 
The tough climb along the summit trails is well worth it due to the spectacular view to the west. The marked red and green summit trails are STEEP. The blue trail to the “White Rocks Overlook” is a good spot where you might take a picnic. Though we treat the exterior to keep out pests including insects and mice, this is a reality of nature. Our space may not be a fit for those who are extremely phobic of these and other wildlife. Guests should be aware that the forest is home to many creatures great and small. Some of the tiny ones may get into the house from time to time. NO REFUNDS will be granted because someone encountered or heard a bear, coyote, fox, spider, fly, wasp, a mouse, rat, or a snake, etc. There is no extra charge for the full nature experience! A signed liability waiver for use of the E-bikes is required for each operator. Trails, property boundary line & pasture signage is in place. Please respect the boundary lines to avoid trespassing on neighboring lands. This is important as game hunters are territorial creatures and we don't want you getting shot! NB: As this area can be unpredictable for the weather, there is a possibility of serious storms or power outages. We do not offer weather related refunds outside of our cancellation policy so you may wish to purchase trip cancellation insurance for your travels in case you do need to cancel last minute. We HIGHLY recommend purchasing trip insurance to safeguard against unexpected events before or during your stay. Once the non-cancellation period begins, having this coverage can be particularly beneficial. You can purchase trIp insurance through the booking platform. In the event of snow/ice conditions, a 4WD vehicle is suggested to navigate the long and hilly driveway to your stay. Availability to collect you, any pets and luggage at the front entrance — if necessary. We operate a SniffSpot site on this land. Kindly note that should you bring dogs, you may be asked to keep them secured inside your suite for an hour during your stay. Thanks in advance for your understanding. Hunting is permitted of wild turkey, deer, dove, geese, rabbit, squirrel, coyote, etc. - in season only - and in compliance with Montgomery County, MD’s strict regulations.
