Butterworth Cottage is beautiful, simple, sustainable and welcoming accommodation in a prime location. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a family the cottage is a private sanctuary nestled in a corner of our expansive native garden. It feels secluded and remote, yet lies a 1 km walk from the vibrant heart of Castlemaine. Guests can soak in the bath and warm your spirits by the fire in winter and enjoy a refreshing dip in the saltwater lap pool with views of Mt Franklin in summer. The space The main bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom is the ‘Snug’ – with custom made narrow beds – one 1.8 and the other a 1.5m long - stacked on top of each other, providing a unique space for cubby building and sleeping. Guest access Our pool is available for guest use between 9 am and 7pm in summer months. For those arriving on foot or by bike, please note our property is perched atop a small but sharp hill, accessed via a 150-meter stretch of dirt road and a steep 30-meter driveway. The walk to Butterworth Cottage from the carport is along a short path through the garden, which ensures your stay remains a secluded, private haven. There are three stairs onto the veranda, so the cottage is not accessible by wheelchair.
