The Retreat Wrightington- 5 minutes from j27 M6

The Retreat is set in the heart of the Wrightington countryside. It is easy to get to, just a few minutes drive from J27 of the M6. Built on a working family run farm it offers stunning views from the living area that is based on the second floor. There are plenty of beautiful local walks in the area and places to eat and shop. Anyone wanting to visit the coast both Blackpool and Southport are within a 30 minute drive and cities like Preston, Manchester and Liverpool are also close by. The space Originally an old shooting lodge and cattle shed, The Retreat has been transformed into a cosy, modern getaway for those looking to escape the everyday. After two years of thoughtful planning and renovation, The Retreat opened its doors in 2024, offering a blend of rustic charm and contemporary comfort. Upstairs Living Area The open-plan kitchen and lounge area upstairs boasts breathtaking views, with large Velux windows that fill the space with natural light during the day. At night, if you prefer not to close the blinds, you can enjoy stunning views of the starry sky. The lounge is designed to be a comfortable and inviting space, featuring a fire TV and Bluetooth speaker for movie or music nights. For more entertainment, you’ll find board games and books in the cabinet below the TV. The upstairs also includes a convenient wet room with a toilet, sink, and shower. Fully Equipped Kitchen The kitchen is fully equipped for all your needs, with a toaster, kettle, Tassimo coffee machine, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, cooker, and an American fridge freezer that provides refreshing ice-cold water and ice at all times. An iron and ironing board are also available for your convenience. Downstairs Bedrooms The property offers two spacious bedrooms, each with a king-size bed and a fire TV for entertainment. One of the beds is a link bed, which can be converted into two singles upon request. The Retreat comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests, with the option to add two fold-up beds for a total of 6 guests. Storage is provided in both rooms, with a dressing table available in one. Downstairs Bathroom The larger bathroom downstairs features a walk-in shower, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. Outdoor Space The garden area provides a seating area, outdoor kitchen, awning, and patio. Please note the outdoor kitchen is not available over winter. Guest access There are two doors that guests can use for access into the property. Parking is on site. Other things to note On our family run farm there are two other family business. Vicky has the balance barn offering yoga and Pilate classes that guests can book through her website. John owns Ruff Puff Brownies that can be purchased from his website. I recommended that both would need to be booked in advance of stays as both get booked up and sold out quickly. For anyone wanting a nice meal, relaxing drink or a little shopping there is the White Lion pub and Derby House both in walking distance and other lovely country pubs, cafes, garden centres and shops a short drive away. Charity Farm is also down the road which has a local bar and cafe and offers touring and camping holidays. Anyone wanting a little treat on their stay can find local hotels offering spa days and local business offering beauty and hair treatments. We are a working family farm so you will see tractors and other vehicles around the farm various hours of the day. We do not have any farm animals as we are arable famers.
