Historic townhouse in convenient location
Welcome to Michaelny, our town house in the Jumel Terrace Historic District in upper Manhattan. We are on a quiet and carless cobble-stoned cul de sac yet just a few steps from the subway and market and stores, and only 20 minutes to midtown. We have 4 private guest rooms sharing 2 bathrooms and a common kitchen/living room. Two rooms have long term guests who are very quiet and very clean and two rooms are available for short term rental. One room is a large room with two twin beds which can be adjoined or separated. The room is on the upstairs floor and is bright and sunny with two large windows with a view of the charming street. Another room is a very small room with a lofted bed. (NOTE: YOU WILL NEED TO CLIMB A FEW STEPS UP A LADDER TO THE RAISED BED!) The room is bright and sunny with a large window with a view of the charming street. (PLEASE NOTE: If you book for one person, you may be in the smaller room with a lofted bed; if you want to guarantee the larger room, you must book for two people.) Right next door to our house is a museum with a beautiful gated park. Guests have as much privacy as they like; we live onsite in a separate ground floor apartment and are always available when needed, or just for pleasant conversation over morning coffee. We welcome guests from all over the world who respect our home and other guests, and the unique surrounding neighborhood. The four guests have their own entrance, and share their own living room/kitchen, as well as two shared bathrooms. The owners have a separate full apartment on the ground floor, with a separate entrance. As we are living in the same house we are always doing our best to help and make your stay nicer. The Morris Jumel HIstoric District is a few blocks of elegant and historic townhouses surrounding Manhattan's oldest home - The Morris Jumel Mansion, which is now a museum. The area is convenient to all that NYC offers, yet it feels like a step back in time, or a step into the country - a truly unique place that surprises even long time New Yorkers - many of whom do not even know it exists. It is like a well kept secret in plain view. The subway (C line) is less than 100 yards from our front door, as is a large super market. Restaurants and shops with a multitude of services are nearby. We are about 20 minutes to midtown. We welcome guests who respect our home and the other guests, and therefore do not allow any visitors. We also ask that all guests keep the common areas (bathroom and kitchen) clean at all times. Thank you for your understanding.
