The Office: stylish getaway near Edinburgh

Countryside retreat with easy access to Edinburgh centre. Newly converted, warm and cosy. You will be staying in the former Office of the old Currie Goods Station, at the foot of the Pentland Hills. Great local walks straight from the doorstep. 5 minutes walk to bus stop for Edinburgh (30 to 40 minute ride). Or a 25 minute drive. 15 to 20 minutes drive to Edinburgh airport. Traffic free cycling straight into Edinburgh. Shared boot room. Electric car charging at cost. The space Originally the office of Currie Goods Station from the 1880s until 1967. This is where the manager once ran the comings and goings of steam trains that served the local mills along the Water of Leith. We've converted the building into our house and guest accommodation over the past few years. The living area includes the kitchen and dining table. The kitchen has everything you should need to cook meals, with a combination oven and microwave, small fridge, and single induction hob (no dishwasher). There's an Everhot stove for cosy evenings (it's electric but looks like a wood burner). The bedroom has a king sized bed and en-suite shower room with an electric shower, electric towel rail and plenty of towels. There's an open staircase between upstairs and downstairs. There is plenty of space for parking 1 or 2 cars. The garden is trees and meadow. Much of it is newly planted or is a work in progress. In the winter the meadow is kept short, then in the summer months it grows long and comes into flower and brings with it lots of wildlife. There are outside table and chairs. There is also a boot room (which is a shared space) where there's a washing machine, sink, a clothes hanging rack and coat hanging. Guest access The Office is completely self contained with independent front door. It is part of the Goods Shed which is our house. The Boot Room is a shared space with us and other guests. The garden is shared. You're welcome to use the garden however you like. We'll also be out and about at times - there's quite a bit of work to be done outside, mostly at weekends. You'll also meet Peggy the dog in the garden she's friendly and can be enthusiastic with new people, but we'll check with you first and can always keep her indoors if you prefer. The parking area is shared. If you need one or two spaces that's fine. There's always more room than we need, and there will always be space for you.
