Nestled at the edge of the Sharon Wildlife Area this 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home has an indoor pool and outdoor fire pit. The natural landscaping provides an enchanting outdoor space to explore with a seasonal brook that winds through the property on its way to the Housatonic River. The location feels rural while remaining close to destinations like Lime Rock Race Track, Mohawk Ski Mountain, Metro North Wassaic Station and the Hotchkiss School. The space Nestled at the edge of the Housatonic State Forest and the designated Sharon Wildlife Area, this 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath home with an indoor pool feels rural while remaining close to town. The main floor of the home hosts an open living area with a wood burning fireplace, dining room, kitchen, and utility room with a 1/2 bath, washer and dryer. The kitchen area has a large butcher block island with cooking equipment. A few steps up from the main floor leads to a king bedroom with a private full bathroom. The lofted ceilings in this room give way to large windows and tree top views over a seasonal brook that cuts through the property. The loft area above the kitchen is not available for use with the rental. Two additional guest bedrooms and the pool are located downstairs in the renovated basement with a second full bathroom and living room. The downstairs bathroom was recently renovated to include a grinder system. This equipment makes noise when the downstairs bathroom is in use. The downstairs living room has a Pac Man machine, family board games, a Smart TV and a pull-out sleeper sofa. A desk is located in this room with a printer and universal plug. There is no cell service available indoors, but you can make wireless calls once connected to the internet. The home is equipped with high speed internet using WiFi extenders throughout the house. Smart televisions are located in the living area and king sized bedroom upstairs. Both guest bedrooms downstairs have queen beds with windows allowing for filtered natural light. One of the bedrooms has exterior door access in the room. The house is family friendly, but it is not childproof. Small children should remain under adult supervision at all times near the pool, fireplace, outdoors and near the stairs. The indoor heated pool is maintained between 75-80 degrees. This booking can be upgraded to maintain the pool at higher a temperature during your visit. There is a small beverage sink and refrigerator located in this room with toys and pool towels. The home is equipped with central heating and built-in mini-splits for air conditioning. Ring doorbells and security cameras are located along the exterior of the property. The security cameras are not actively monitored when the home is being rented. For visitors looking to explore beyond the property, a scenic four mile drive north will lead auto enthusiasts to the entrance of Lime Rock Park. Guests will see a parade of attractive cars making their way to the race track during event weekends. Take care when exploring the landscape outdoors and the rocks near the brook. Do not leave food outside. Keep the exterior doors closed to keep wildlife out. Secure all waste as instructed in the designated areas to avoid attracting bears. It’s not uncommon to see wildlife passing through the property during your visit. Air horns are stored in a cabinet near the front door and also near the door in the pool room. There are countless activities to enjoy nearby. Pickup an Appalachian trailhead just a few miles east towards the historic covered bridge in West Cornwall where it crosses the Housatonic River. A two mile drive west will take you into the town of Sharon for essentials. Here you can find a local grocer, package stores, a gas station, a pharmacy, several small business, the post office and a hospital. The Sharon Green and Hotchkiss Library are fun locations for families to visit when events are happening in town. The nearby Clock Tower stands as another testament of time that is well maintained in this historic town. Hiking trails are abundant in this area. Family friendly trails can be found at the Sharon Audubon Center where you can visit the aviaries! The home is located near several of the Sharon Land Trust Trails and within walking distance to cross the Wike Brothers Farm easement on the Red Mountain Trail system. Head further southeast for shopping and antiquing through Kent, or head north to explore Falls Village and on into Berkshires. The town of Millerton, New York is a quick fifteen minute drive over the border with more shopping, coffee and eateries to explore. The home is close to local ski hills and directly accessible from paved roads that are maintained in the winter. A quick two hour drive down to the city, and a fifteen minute drive to the train station in Wassaic.
