Rare Breed Lambs born AUGUST 2025. We believe you can’t get much better than this! A luxurious retreat with hypnotic views across the Elham Valley. Farrow & Ball timeless hues, dressed with Liberty of London curtains, plumped duck down duvet & pillows, snuggle in to white waffle gowns & slippers. Imagine the scent of logs smouldering, simmering water under starry skies, sunrises to live for, sunsets to die for. A solitary shepherds hut amongst Valais Blacknose Sheep, Goats Hens & Frank the foal The space Valley View Shepherds Hut is at the top of Elham Valley, resting within Mount Lodge Smallholdings acreage, powered by solar panels and has an ECO wood- fired Hot Tub, the access is through a set of CCTV electric gates that leads and meanders up a long cobbled drive to the turning area where you park opposite the barn garage, take a gentle 30 second walk up a woodchip path to your huts steps, lit by twinkle lights from dusk. This is the only Shepherds hut at Mount Lodge, we have no other glamping in sight. We are a 4 minute walk to the gastropub, The Kings Arms (voted the best pub in Kent Award 2024) Valley View rests in a young orchard, if you decide to walk round the orchard you will see the rear of our property - a good 70 metres away🔎! It’s a family run smallholding so you may see my husband and I around working on the land and during feed-times 🐏🐑🐐🐓🐴 Inside your hut and private space that surrounds your area there isn’t anything in view apart from rare breed sheep, the biggest British breed of goats (Anglo Nubians), hens, sunrises, sunsets, rolling hills & valleys as far as the eye can see…….The hut does come equipped with binoculars & a torch. What’s inside …….? Behind the Oak glazed double doors you’ll step into the Oak Kitchen & Snug area with a cosy wood burning stove. The Kitchen is fully equipped and consists of a butlers sink, induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, Delonghi coffee machine, cookware, crockery & Le Creuset Kettle/mugs & coffee cups. We even have champagne flutes & Gin bowls! The bedroom has a luxurious oak double bed with Duck down duvet & pillows with an array of velvet cushions (the bed also has a handy storage area for cases underneath) The shower room has a traditional brass power shower, a seperate hair shower (hairdryer in cupboard) & towel rail that’s permanently on during chillier months …. you can even enjoy a shower or a tinkle (men) with a breath taking view over the hills 😉. We provide white waffle gowns and slippers to snuggle into, white fluffy towels. We use Bramley toiletries that are all made with natural ingredients and pure essential oils …. hand sanitiser, hand wash, body wash & shampoo for your stay. We also provide some extra touches: Alexa Echo, Ice bucket, giant marshmallows with toasting skewers, blankets, Orla Keily large Hot Tub towels, logs, fire starters, instant BBQ bag, Oat milk, tea & Nespresso coffee pods. There is outdoor lantern lighting to the front of the shepherds hut and hot tub fairy lights, however we do live in a “Dark Skies” area so if you switch them off on a clear night, you will truly see a magnificent array of starry filled skies. There’s a table for two for Alfresco dining, Drum BBQ, fire pit, bench area, a wood-fired off grid ECO Hot Tub (this can also be used for bathing in - an outside deep hot bath for two!) Sunrises & sunsets to live for & views to die for! Could you ask for anything more?…. We have a flock of Valais blacknose Sheep, these are rare breeds from Switzerland & they are truly our special friends, very tame & loving and have been voted the worlds cutest animal for 5 yrs back to back, either side of the shepherds hut is the sheep field and Frank the foal field …. you can spend hours watching them directly outside your window. We also have the characterful and very vocal Anglo Nubian goats (the biggest British breed of goat) found in our corner wood ( off the footpath). Then there’s handsome Frank the foal, a traditional Cob, he loves strokes and is a strutter but during winter times he turns into a mud monster. Quirky Polish bantams, cockerels and black jersey giant hens are free ranging the land … you may even hear Phoenix the cockerel crow around 6am. If you are 3 night plus stayers and I’m lucky enough to gather some eggs (hens slow down during winter months) you will be sure to find half a dozen in your shepherds hut 🍳👍🏽 So not only will you be staying in an exceptional unique retreat with everything at your fingertips and being with nature and rare breeds on your doorstep, you will also be staying in the village of Elham, this is a beautiful and historic little area that can be traced back to the Domesday Book of 1086.
