Here, we're all about fossicking, repurposing and re-inventing – with textures that invoke ease – wood of all kinds, layered natural fibres and plentiful plants. The lodge has all the spaces you desire, whether you are resting or adventuring: Four bedrooms, each with its own view; an expansive lounge with sofas to sink into; a large open-plan country-style kitchen with log burner and adjacent dining; a light-filled conservatory, and a vine-covered courtyard with open fire, spa pool and outdoor shower. Beyond that, a paddock leads you to the river's edge and a secret swimming hole. Despite its size, Higgs Rest is one of those unique places that feels cosy for two and expansive for groups. It has a special way of welcoming all its guests, whether you're on a personal retreat, a couples escape, or a gathering of many. We love to host, and we love Higgs Rest. Feel free to wander and pick herbs from the garden, chat with the sheep and explore beyond the hedge down to the river. We are an inclusive stay, and all guests of any background or community are welcome here. Other things to note We choose not to have a TV at Higgs Rest because there are many other wonderful ways to spend your time here. Sheep graze on ours and the neighbouring properties. If you go into their paddock, please be mindful of their space and close any gates you open. One bedroom is up a spiral staircase, and there is access to a walkway with open railing from here. These spaces are unsuitable for young children. We keep our pantry stocked with basic supplies, including coffee (ground, whole beans and decaf ground), milk (please let us know your preference (cows or oats), black and herbal tea, salt, pepper and olive oil. There are both plunger and stove-top coffee-making options.
