Upper House*

The Upper House is a tranquil one-bedroom cabin overlooking Lake Baroon and the countryside. It is an easy five-minute drive from Maleny main street, but feels miles away from the bustle. Suitable for couples and solo travelers who relish calm and solitude The space The Upper House started life over 20 years ago as a milking shed, and has since been converted to various uses. It was gutted in 2015, and renovated into a private guest cabin. Various elements from the original shed have been preserved, such as the block walls, the concrete floor, the exposed steel beams on the ceiling, and the large openings that used to accommodate roller doors. The Upper House sits on the highest point of the land, hence its name. It has views of Lake Baroon (a straightforward 10min drive away), the surrounding hills and woods, and huge skies. This is a space that invites you to spread out and do nothing too strenuous: Sit back on the couch and gaze for hours at the light changing over the water and land, with your music playing over the Bluetooth Harmon Kardon speaker (the acoustics are pretty good). Dive into the king-sized bed with your favourite person, book or device (there are built-in USB charging points next to the bed and plentiful wifi). Relax in the sunken bath. Watch wallabies feed outside the floor-to-ceiling windows at dusk. Sit on the lawn at 2am and take in the stars and Milky Way. Wake at 6am to watch clouds blanket the water and hills, and then go back to bed. It's that kind of space. There are often road signs around the hinterland advertising bags of $15-$20, the local iga and hardware stores also stock it. Other things to note Please no pet requests. We cannot accommodate pets at this property due to our allocating some of the land as a Wallaby safe haven and we also have a family member that comes to stay who has allergies. Please be respectful of the wildlife when exploring, wear appropriate footwear and do not leave windows or doors open. Lost Property Policy: Please carefully check the place before you go for any items you might have left behind. We do understand accidents happen, so if you’ve left something behind we have a lost property policy. · We’ll hold items for up to 7 days after checkout. · After that if we don’t hear from you, items are donated or responsibly discarded. · Want it returned? Because It happens so often and we are finding ourselves running to the post office frequently, we have a $15 handling fee + Plus the cost of shipping. · To request a return, please send a message to us through the platform you used to book, along with the item description, your stay dates, and the address you would like it shipped.
