Take it easy at our unique and tranquil getaway. The custom built cabin hosts a variety of amenities for you to enjoy. Relax in the hot tub, take a leisurely walk by the Maury River, swing on the screened-in porch, have your morning coffee while taking in the wildlife. In the evenings, enjoy grilling out under the stars. Snuggle up by the gas fireplace, listen to music or catch a movie in our beautiful living area. Our fire pit is perfect for an evening sing along or marshmallow roast! The space My mother lived in this well loved cabin for almost 40 years. She spent many hours meditating and entertaining on the screened in porch. Our river access was a favorite spot for visiting with family and taking a dip on hot days. We have a kayak and paddle board as well as two bicycles for guest use. The beautiful surroundings of nature, tranquil simplicity and comfortable accommodations will make this an annual tradition for you and your family to visit and build memories. Guest access The house is open for all guests to enjoy and explore. There is a garage on the property where we keep the recreational equipment. The gas grill is just off of the kitchen next to the hot tub. The large screened TV in the living room can provide a cinematic experience at the end of the day. There is private river access available most times of the year with a few restricted hours depending on the season. Wooded landscape and a lovely screened in porch offer serenity and privacy along with the opportunity to observe wildlife in a comfortable, safe setting. Other things to note There is a laundry room with washer, dryer and extra fridge on premises. Laundry detergent and dryer sheets are available. All bed linens, kitchen and bath towels are provided. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever need to fix a nice meal, bake or entertain. A Keurig coffee maker is onsite so feel free to bring your own pods. Plenty of coffee (Dark Magic from Green Mountain, go Vermont, my other home) will be provided for you along with other culinary essentials like olive oil, sugar, flour, spices and seasonings. Cleaning supplies including vacuum are well within reach should you need them during your stay. There is a air purifier downstairs and also dehumidifier that runs automatically to keep the air fresh, especially during the warmer more humid months. High Speed Internet is also included so streaming a movie, making internet calls and working remotely are easily accomplished and accessible during your stay. Skiers and Snowboarders, our cabin is approximately two hours from Snowshoe, and approximately one hour from Wintergreen, Massanutten and the Homestead. Perfect for snowy day trips! Hikers, there are many trails to explore. Jump Mountain is a stone’s throw away. Take a day hike and stop by Jump Mountain Winery for refreshments on the way back. Natural Bridge is about 35 minutes away. See one of the world’s wonders, hike to the waterfalls, browse their unique gift shop. Goshen Pass is just around the corner, this nature reserve has lovely hiking trails and scenic beauty to admire and enjoy. Kayakers, this is the place for you!!! The Maury River is an incredible destination for kayaking, tubing and fishing. The Maury River is clean and serene. Great for water sports of many kinds. And of course, sunbathing by the river on our rock offers a deeply relaxing experience. The cabin is about 45 minutes from the baths at Warm Springs. This is a unique, healing experience you do not want to miss! W&L and VMI families, the Retreat by the Rivah is located 15 miles west of Historic Downtown Lexington. It is a beautiful place to spend weekends with your college students, an easy trip into town and a place where everyone can relax together with all the comforts of home.
