Description
MELBA offers four stylish sea-view studios – elegant, quiet, and open year-round thanks to underfloor heating. A personal, thoughtfully crafted place where a gentle, harmonious atmosphere unfolds the moment you arrive. Our new small Essentials offering provides an easy start, and from November to April we additionally assist with meals. A quiet island retreat for those who appreciate beauty, comfort, and the calm rhythm of both the Mediterranean winter and summer. The space **Studio 1.1 — Sunken Lounge — EMMA** This spacious studio offers plenty of room and comfort for two guests and serves as a quiet retreat with thoughtful, harmonious design. Interior: 50 m² Terrace with outdoor shower: 15 m² Located on the ground floor, the studio stays naturally cool in summer, while large windows allow soft, natural light to enter. The private terrace offers romantic views of the garden patio, courtyard, and the sea — the perfect place to unwind. A walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom with a large window facing the greenery add a gentle spa-like character. The highlight of this studio is the sunken lounge — a built-in seating area set into the floor, offering exceptional comfort for resting and relaxing. Safety Note for the Sunken Lounge The sunken lounge is recessed into the floor with a depth of approx. 60 cm. There are no railings or barriers, as they are only required for depths of 1 meter or more. Guests are advised to take care, especially those with limited mobility, balance concerns, or visual impairments. A detailed safety note will be provided after booking. GENERAL Concept MELBA offers four individual sea-view studios on the island of Šolta — simple, charming, and without TV. The house is adults-only (18+), non-smoking, and pet-free; two quiet courtyard cats and a gentle scent hound move naturally around the property. KITCHEN Our kitchen concept is ideal for light meals such as breakfast and simple summer dishes, as several restaurants are located nearby. The studios are especially suited for guests who wish to relax and enjoy their stay without extensive cooking. A new Basic Essentials offering is available on request to make your arrival easier. We provide a small curated selection of regional and high-quality essentials, sourced thoughtfully and with care. With sufficient notice, items can be selected and prepared for your stay. For guests without a car, we also offer a small range of local island products and homemade items. Kitchen Equipment Dishwasher, refrigerator, portable 2-plate cooktop, kettle, sandwich toaster, French press, moka pot. Each studio kitchen includes essentials: coffee, a selection of breakfast teas, local olive oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and seasonal fresh herbs (when available). ADDITIONAL AMENITIES A spacious king-size bed with a comfortable mattress and soft cotton linens ensures restorative sleep. Ceiling fans above the bed and on the terrace provide a gentle breeze, and insect screens on most windows add extra comfort. Enjoy your private, wind-sheltered loggia or terrace as a calm retreat. A rain shower, high-quality toiletries, and fresh bath and beach towels — replaced according to your needs and the length of your stay — are provided. For quiet moments, you will find a small selection of books and magazines. Air conditioning for summer and underfloor heating for winter ensure the ideal indoor climate. Free Wi-Fi is, of course, available. STUDIO DECORATION Each studio features seasonal, hand-made floral arrangements that bring a fresh, natural touch. Their colours and delicate scents create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. PERSONAL NOTE Studio 1.1 — EMMA — is lovingly named after my Australian niece and serves as my personal winter retreat. Thoughtfully considered details throughout the space invite guests to pause, reflect, and connect with the surroundings and the story of the place. Guest access We welcome our guests personally whenever possible. Each studio is equipped with an electronic door lock, allowing for a flexible and keyless arrival, and private parking is available free of charge. Your personal PIN code will be provided during check-in; if a personal welcome is not possible, it will be shared with you in advance via chat. The lower courtyard, which is part of my private living area, is occasionally opened for guests. From time to time, I host small gatherings there. When this happens, a notice will be placed at the courtyard entrance — and if you feel like joining, you are warmly invited. Other things to note A Few Friendly Notes for Your Stay at MELBA This studio features a Sunken Lounge – a recessed seating area about 65 cm (25.6 in) lower than the surrounding floor. It’s an essential part of the studio’s design and offers a unique, open atmosphere. Please note: • No barriers or railings are required by law at this depth. • Use caution, especially in the dark, after alcohol, or if you have mobility, balance, or vision issues. • Not recommended for children or anyone at higher risk of falling. By entering or using the Sunken Lounge, you accept full responsibility and acknowledge that it is at your own risk. The property owner is not liable for injuries or accidents. If you are unsure about this feature, please let us know immediately – before your arrival. After check-in, an alternative may not be available. Thank you for your understanding, and enjoy your stay. ⸻ House Guidelines – MELBA Boutique Studios These guidelines are here to help keep the house beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming for everyone. Thank you for taking a moment to read them – and for being part of the gentle rhythm of life here. ⸻ Shoes This is a shoes-off home – barefoot or in slippers feels great and keeps the carpets fresh. ⸻ Smoking Non-smoking house – including balconies and loggias. If you smoke, just let me know and I’ll show you a comfortable, wind-safe spot outside. ⸻ Water & Toilet • The island has no public sewage system – everything runs through a private tank. • Water is precious – please shower consciously and avoid waste. • Tap water is safe to drink. • Toilets are sensitive – only flush toilet paper (in normal amounts). If in doubt, flush twice. ⸻ Kitchen • The handcrafted concrete island is beautiful but delicate – use heat mats for hot pots and cutting boards for food prep. • Wipe gently after use so no stains dry in. ⸻ Towels • Each guest gets: 3 white towels (bathroom) + 1 coloured towel (beach). • Please use wooden drying racks – not balcony railings. ⸻ Front Door • Our door uses a secure Nuki electronic lock – you’ll receive a personal PIN code for easy entry. • To lock from outside: press arrow button on keypad. • To lock from inside: turn round knob. • Please make sure it’s closed on windy days and whenever you leave. ⸻ Heating & Cooling • The AC runs via a modern air-to-air heat pump – works best at 22–23 °C with windows closed. • The studios also have cosy underfloor heating for cooler days. • Please don’t adjust the wall thermostats – they’re only for the underfloor heating, not cooling. ⸻ Ceiling Fan Set to rotate counterclockwise for cooling, and turn off when leaving. ⸻ Windows & Mosquitos • Large square windows in bedroom/living room are heavy – tilt gently, don’t open fully. • Use marked windows with mosquito nets for fresh air. • Keep balcony doors closed in mosquito hours (morning/evening). • Please don’t squash mosquitos on curtains – it leaves stains. • Each apartment has: mosquito lamp, natural citronella spray, outdoor mosquito coil. ⸻ Waste & Recycling • In-studio bins: plastic + paper. • Outside bins (south side): • Yellow = plastic • Blue = paper • Green = general waste • Brown = glass • Taking rubbish out during your stay (and once more at checkout) is a big help. ⸻ Plants If your studio has an olive tree, a little evening water is appreciated. ⸻ Rain & Balcony If it rains and you’re home, please move carpets or small furniture to a dry spot. ⸻ Cats Two sweet cats live downstairs – but they’re not allowed upstairs. Please don’t feed or invite them in. If they visit your terrace/loggia, let me know. ⸻ Thank you for reading – and for caring for this place as if it were your own. If anything is unclear, I’m happy to help. Wishing you a warm welcome and a peaceful stay at MELBA.
