Description

A peaceful & luxurious new stone conversion in the heart of The Monnow Valley. On the English/Welsh border. Electric Hot Tub, large mature enclosed garden, private driveway and parking. Sleeps up to 6. Up to 4 bedrooms. 1 dog welcomed. Rolling hills & beautiful countryside. From the location the views are magnificent. Doorstep footpath takes you 200 mtrs down to river Monnow where it can be followed to picturesque Llanrothal church & Tregate bridge within 1/2 mile.The location is truly idylic The space The Cart Shed can sleep up to 6 guests and 1 dog is welcomed. There are 3 bedrooms with super king, double and single beds to sleep 5 guests. There is also a separate living room which on request can be used as a fourth bedroom (sofa bed) to increase full capacity from 5 to 6. If you wish to use the living room as a bedroom for example because you are a group of 4 friends all wanting separate bedrooms then there will be a £60 additional cost. We then provide additional sofa bed with all the linen required. Please note we also have another barn - “Brand new 2 bedroom barn. Stunning views! Hot tub” (long meadow barn) which is a short walk from the Cart shed (1min walk) and sleeps up to six The Cart Shed is a newly converted stone barn which was once used to house carts and chickens as well as acting as storage for meats and apples. The conversion is oozing with character and charm. It is in a very quiet location down a no through road but also close to Monmouth towns supermarkets and eateries (ten mins) Located right on the Herefordshire/Monmouthshire border (just 200 metres into England!) with idylic views of the countryside and cows and sheep on your doorstep. It is a real rural retreat. The property has a 6 person electric hot tub ready to go (no fiddling around making fires!) with lighting and jets, extra spa towels and complementary waffle dressing robes provided. Parking is on a your own private driveway next to the cottage. Parking for 4-5 cars. The Cart Shed - Kitchen/Living/Dining space - A large open plan area with underfloor heating. All decorated in 2024. The kitchen is a fully equipped with all that you will need in the way of utensils, pots, pans, glasses, crockery etc. There is a quartz worktop, fridge and freezer, induction hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, cafetière and washing machine in a separate laundry room. 40 inch Smart tv with apps installed for you to use your own log in. Second living area- Separate second Living area/work from home space or 4th bedroom on request. A stunning separate living room which could be used for working from home or simply as an additional space for relaxing and playing games. We supply Chess, Dobble, Bananagrams, monopoly, Articulate, Scrabble and a pack of playing cards. We also supply a large selection of books as well as children and toddler books. Comfy chairs, oak beams, lovely wide windows with views and a vaulted ceiling. The underfloor heating and cosy rug will keep you snug underfoot. Smart tv in this living room as well as the open plan space (so no arguing needed over what to watch!) Utility room - Handy space for stowing away the suitcases. Iron, ironing board and washing machine available and hanging rack provided. There is also a spinning hanging line in the garden WC room- self explantory! Double bedroom - Cosy and characterful Oak beamed room with rattan double bed and large chest of drawers. Black out blind to aid a good night sleep. Single bedroom - Sweet and cosy single bedroom with Dormer window, overlooking the pretty garden, character Oak beams. Large chest of drawers. Black out blind for restful sleep. Master bedroom - With an Superking bed, Oak beams, Dormer windows, large dressing table and chest of drawers. Built in wardrobe with shelves and hanging space in the hallway. Black out blinds in the Dormer windows. Marble Bathroom - With separate bath and power shower. Each guests will be supplied with quality large bath towel, a spa towel and a hand towel. All the beds will be made up with top quality John Lewis Seersucker white 200 thread count bed linen and organic sheets. Complementary waffle dressing gowns also supplied. Tea towels, dishwasher tablets, Scottish fine soap company shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and soap provided. We also provide all other essentials such as toilet roll, bin bags, washing up liquid, paper towels, dishwasher tablets etc. Inside the property is prepared local information on where to eat and visit based on hosts experience of living in the area for many years. Also plenty of other useful information and tourist leaflets to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Travel cot and high chair is provided and always in the property. Please let us know if it's needed as we will happily make it up. The countryside views can be taken in from the comfort of the spacious, quaint and very private garden which is both pretty and practical. The garden has mature Walnut and Magnolia trees which dapple the lawn with shade, along with a lovely flowerbed of pink peonies. The garden has plenty of lawn space on 3 tiered levels as well as 2 patio areas. You can sit on the bench on the top level with a morning coffee and watch the birds and enjoy the views. It is extremely peaceful. There is also an outdoor dining table and chairs along with a bench for taking in the views and two steamer chairs. A BBQ with the charcoal required supplied by us. There is a handy warm mixer tap outside for washing off dog paws after a muddy walk and a doggy towel is provided. We also supply some garden games for those times when you want to stop in and enjoy the garden - quoits, giant jenga and boules. The garden is a haven for birds and wildlife. We keep the numerous bird feeders in the garden filled up and through years of feeding the birds have become more varied and have really multiplied! The garden is very private, pretty and fully enclosed. The mature hedging has chicken wire fencing inside it to stop dogs or children escaping. We welcome 1 dog to sleep downstairs in the property only on their own bed. We also request that dog is not left alone in the property while you go out for the day. The property is adjoining the hosts home (but entirely private) so we can do everything possible to make sure your stay is hassle free. Where we are - Situated on a dead end and therefore very quiet country lane but just 10 minutes (4.5miles) drive to Monmouth, 16 miles from Abergavenny, 12 miles from Ross-on-Wye and 17 miles to Hereford. There are many country pubs all about a ten minute drive in various directions from the property. Beautiful riverside footpath walks right on your doorstep. 200 metres from the River Monnow! Also very local to 3 great golf courses. Very local to the famous Symonds Yat Rock with its iconic views (15 mins) and the River Wye. Located in the Monnow valley but close to the Wye Valley (a designated area of outstanding natural beauty) and to the Forest of Dean with Puzzlewood, bike and walking trails, Go Ape, Perrygrove railway, etc (20mins). Boats trips or canoeing on the river wye. The local area is littered with historic, border castles such as Goodrich, Skenfrith, Grosmont, White Castle and Raglan. Very close to the Black Mountains- Skirrid, Sugarloaf and Blorenge. There are also fabulous local walks at the Kimyn hill, Garway hill and Symonds Yat Rock. Famous Hay on Wye is about 50 mins away. The Brecon Beacons National park also in reach. If you are looking to book with children we can give some good suggestions of where the children would enjoy. The Cart Shed really is nestled in the thick of the Herefordshire countryside, along peaceful country lanes with spectacular views. If peace, tranquility and birdsong are required then you will certainly find these in abundance. Electric cars- If you are bringing an electric car then with prior arrangement this can be charged on our driveway next door via a pod pint charger which is untethered. We ask for a £25 contribution. Please bring your own charging cable and make arrangement with us. Late check out- in January and February it is often the case we can offer a late check out time of 12 subject to availability. Please enquire. Guest access Guests have use of the entire private house and their own private garden. Private Driveway that is only used by the guests. None of the garden is shared with the hosts.
