The space Add this listing to your wishlist now by clicking the ❤️ in the upper right hand corner. The mirror house is organized as a studio space with the living room doubling as a bedroom and uses a creative Murphy wall bed to maximize living space. This makes the space feel far bigger, as do the windows on nearly all sides of you. However the bathroom itself is small, leaving minimal storage space for your things. At 200 square ft. inside, the interior size feels like a luxury hotel room in the woods. This size space is not for everyone - If you are expecting a large accommodation, you'll need to look elsewhere. The mirrors are coated with a special patented anti-bird strike technology to prevent birds from not seeing the structure. There are two places to stay at Glassy Stays, the mirror house you are staying in and a 30-foot geodesic dome (the largest transparent dome in North America). The dome is approximately 300 feet from the mirror house. There are no privacy issues as the glass portions of each face away from another. There is neighbor in the holler who will occasionally practice target shooting on his property. The sound from this can be heard from outside the mirror house. He typically alerts us ahead of time and we will let you know about this whenever possible. Guest access While staying at Glassy Stays, you will have access to approximately 15 acres of forest, walking trails and access to Little Ivy Creek (across the main road). There is also a large meadow on the property with a 19th century chimney. Feel free to meander on the hiking trails. The only spot off-limits to you is the direct vicinity around the dome (as that will be rented to another guest. Other things to note Please read all details about the property before booking. To all nature enthusiasts, the mirrors are coated with a special patented anti-bird strike technology inside to prevent birds from not seeing the structure. To date, we have never had a bird strike. There are no curtains in the mirror house in order to maximize your view of the forest around you. If you require curtains, this is not the rental for you. The windows are tinted with one-way mirrored tinting, however. This means that during the day, no one can see into the mirror house. At night, if you have the lights on, it is possible to see inside. However, none of the glass walls are facing public spaces, so there should be no one in the vicinity to see in. There is privacy tinting (to make the windows opaque) in the bathroom so that when you shower and use the restroom, you have complete privacy at all times of day. It is important to note as well that the bathroom and the available space inside for your things is small. There is no luggage rack to put your luggage at this time. The space is limited inside the mirror house and all nooks and crannies have been used efficiently. Please let us know if you need a luggage rack before your stay and we can arrange to have one delivered. Otherwise, we recommend unloading your gear in the storage spaces and putting your suitcase in your car out of the way. The closet space at the mirror house is very limited. There is only a small 18" closet to the left of the bed structure. You can use this to hang clothes. There are also shelves and drawers for your belongings. Due to the off-grid nature of this property, if there is a power outage we have provided a battery-powered lantern for temporary lighting which can be found under the kitchen sink. There is an electric sub-panel by the front door behind the moss art which would need to be flipped back on to gain power again.
