TheSteelAway is a detached backyard guesthouse. Experience contemporary design at its finest in our thoughtfully crafted house nestled in a residential neighborhood on the edge of Ballard’s Brewery District, right between two of Seattle’s most vibrant neighborhoods: Ballard & Fremont, you will be close to many of Seattle's top destinations for dining, shopping, & nightlife. Enjoy designer finishes, amazing natural light and a stunning sunset view of the Olympic Mountains when the clouds part. The space In homage to the Scandinavian & industrial roots of our neighborhood, TheSteelAway is clad in Corten steel siding designed to develop a rich, rusty patina. The interior is a comfortable, light-filled space informed by Scandinavian design with unique details added by local artists and craftsman. Enjoy the sunset view over the Olympic Mountains from the main living space and the cozy built-in bed in the “bear cave” bedroom. Designed by CAST architecture & built by Viking Construction, this 2-bedroom, 2-bath house lives large and has been equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay: two queen size beds and a high-end pullout sofa, down pillows, air-conditioning & heating, washer/dryer, hair dryer, iron & board, a fully equipped kitchen, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Coffee & tea are provided. There is off-street parking for a car and plenty more free street parking. For guests with young children, we also have a Pack n' Play and a highchair available upon request. Guest access Before arrival, guests will be given an access code for the keyless lock and can check-in at their convenience any time after 3pm. Other things to note The "bear cave" bedroom has a heating unit but does not have its own air conditioning unit. There are fans available and the window can be opened or the door to the bedroom left open to take advantage of the air cooled by the AC units in the master bedroom & upstairs. TheSteelAway is located in a quiet neighborhood with the occasional barking dog or squawking crow. ENTERTAINMENT / MEDIA The TV does not have cable but is equipped with a Roku device for streaming Netflix, Amazon Prime, or your favorite app. We also have an Amazon Echo Dot hooked up to the stereo so you can ask Alexa to play the music of your choice.
