Visit my Airbnb Host Profile to explore our 3 cabins: Millmoon A-Frame, Black Dog Cabin, Darkfrost Lodge. The space **How can we help you?** Have questions about the cabin the amenities or things to do in the area? Ask us, we are happy to help you! **Winter in the New Hampshire Foothills: A Friendly Heads-Up** We're thrilled to host you during the winter months. Here's what you need to know: Heat: Our cabins feature eco-friendly mini-split heating systems, which provide gentle, efficient heat that feels different than traditional furnaces in apartments or houses. Bring your coziest layers, fuzzy socks, winter boots, and maybe that favorite blanket—it's all part of the authentic cabin experience. You'll be warm, just in a more rustic-chic kind of way. Roads: Our unpaved country roads can get icy, snowy, and occasionally adventurous in winter. An all-wheel drive vehicle with all-weather tires is your ticket to stress-free arrival and departure. **Parking** Millmoon Cabin has a dedicated parking spot for one car. If you need additional parking, please let us know, and we can accommodate you. **Register Your Pet** Our cabins are pet-friendly and will always be so. If you're bringing a pet, please add your pet to your reservation: this helps us notify our cleaners and helps keep cabins tidy for you and all of our guests. **About Millmoon A-Frame Cabin** Millmoon is made from wood we hand-milled ourselves and is designed by us. The exterior siding is treated with the traditional Japanese wood-burning technique of shou sugi ban for a beautiful, nuanced finish. The interior wood of the cabin is not stained and is lightly sanded to maintain its natural color and character. **Life in the Woods** The A-frame cabin is off an unpaved country road on a densely forested hill. All-wheel drive vehicles are recommended from late fall through winter and during mud season in late March - early April. Our location is not overtly remote but the cabin is a few hundred feet away from the road off a private driveway. Millmoon Cabin is located in the heart of our working homestead. You’ll be near our wood mill, wood shop, private residences, barn, gardens, and homesteading projects. The cabin has a private parking spot suitable for one vehicle. From the parking space a woodchipped path of about 100 ft gradually slopes down to the cabin. Our little mountain community is overall quiet. During the day, you may see the occasional delivery vehicle on the road, hear distant chainsaws at work, or sometimes us milling lumber at our wood mill on the property. But the evenings are quiet here and very dark (we supply flashlights!) ideal for stargazing on clear nights. You will be surrounded by a rich and healthy woodland ecosystem. Native wildlife around the property includes migrating birds, owls, deer, moose, red and grey squirrels, a diverse range of pollinator insects (and mosquitos in the summer and for two weeks in April black flies), the occasional porcupine, and in rare instances a shy black bear or bobcat in the distance. During the spring and summer months please keep doors closed to prevent uninvited insect friends from welcoming themselves inside. We do our best to keep tiny native critters out of the cabin but occasionally they sneak in. **Unscented Cleaning Products** When possible, we use unscented cleaning products, detergents, and soaps. No weird plugin air fresheners or spray fake "air fresheners" here! **Sleeping Arrangement** The sleep loft is accessible by a 9-foot ladder with several handrails. When you book your stay at our cabin, you also confirm that you are comfortable using loft ladders. The loft features a **King-Sized** bed with a memory foam mattress and king pillows. *Upon Request*, we can provide a twin camping cot for use only on the first floor. It WILL be a tight fit, but it can work for a child or an adult, okay with staying in close quarters. Please reach out if you have any questions. **Kitchen and Cooking** The kitchen water pump (used to pump water to the kitchen sink, bathhouse sink, and shower) creates a temporary pumping sound but only when the sinks or showers are on. The pump is in fine working order, and the pumping sound stops shortly after the building sinks or the bathhouse shower is turned off. All kitchen appliances are electric-only including a mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster, and induction burner. Kitchen equipment includes a gooseneck kettle, plates, utensils, mugs, cups, bowls, wine glasses, wine opener, grilling utensils, and a stainless steel skillet and pot. We stock cooking oil, salt, pepper, coffee, tea, and sugar. Millmoon Cabin's little kitchen is designed to make simple meals for two. The back deck features a small but mighty propane Magma kettle grill, ideal for fast grilling. **Bathhouse** A few steps away, connected to the front deck, is your private, heated bathhouse, equipped with an eco-friendly, waterless sawdust toilet and a spacious shower with a forest view. The bathhouse has hot water, but keep in mind the water tank is small (just like the cabin), so for the best results, keep showers to five minutes. Guest access Guests have the A-Frame cabin, bathhouse, and front and back areas of the cabin to themselves. Behind the cabin is the new Luna Moth Loop trail, about a 1/8th mile trail winding through the back of our property you are welcome to stroll. The trail is marked with white and green survey tape. You will occasionally see us, other guests, or our black Lab, Maple, on the shared driveway passing between private residences and other parts of our homestead farm. We are sometimes available to show you other parts of the farmstead and if possible we are happy to show you around. By default, we will respect your privacy and you’ll rarely see us. We are nearby and available through the app if you need us for anything or want to say hello! Other things to note Millmoon Cabin is ideal for couples or solo guests. Adding a third guest is recommended only for a child or additional adult very comfortable with sleeping on a (nice) camping cot and groups comfortable sharing a small and cozy space. We are happy to provide a camping cot (with bedding and pillow), upon request, but it will be a tight fit downstairs. Let us know when you book and it will be ready for you upon arrival. The loft ladder is the only way to access the sleep loft. Guests should be comfortable with using a short ladder. The bathhouse is heated and has hot water. Please note the toilet is a sawdust toilet; no water is used for a water-saving and eco-friendly toilet. *Please note the loft ladder cannot be climbed by dogs*, but we are happy to provide a dog bed (great for dogs 55 lbs and under) and a water bowl. Let us know when you book your stay and it will be ready when you arrive. Our black lab, Maple, is adventurous and might wander near the cabin. She is friendly, likes people and other dogs, and may bark at new visitors. We will do our best to make sure she respects your privacy.
