Description

Free parking spot in rear. Unwind in our skylit penthouse on Chicago’s historic South Side—just 15 min from downtown. Enjoy a luxury rain shower, soft bamboo floors, full kitchen, and a private patio with wine-worthy views of St. Mary’s Church. Located in Bridgeport, near Pilsen’s art scene and Chinatown’s food spots. The layout is open, with a convertible couch as a second bed. We live below, greet you with snacks, and host with love—this is real hospitality, not a corporate setup. The space From the moment I stepped into this space, I was transported back to childhood summers in Poland—some places just make you feel something, and this one has that magic. I didn’t just buy a home; I fell in love with a place that tells a story. When you’re on vacation, you deserve more than a bed—you deserve a true getaway that whispers history, feels like home, and gives you a place to live like a local in the city. This unit began as the master bedroom and bathroom of a home renovated by an Eastern European builder who lived here for 16 years. He raised his family in this space, and every detail—from the custom bathroom to the lighting—reflects that dream-home energy. After we moved in, I tracked down his assistant, and together we added a full kitchen to turn it into a private, self-contained apartment. It’s now a cozy, peaceful hideaway perfect for couples, solo travelers, work trips, or small families looking for a short-term rental with soul. Step out onto your private patio and take in the view of St. Mary of Perpetual Help—a historic church built in 1889 by Polish immigrants and a symbol of unity between Irish and Polish families. You’re staying in Bridgeport, the city’s oldest officially recognized neighborhood, founded in 1836 by Irish canal workers. Today, it’s one of the most diverse areas in Chicago—home to a Buddhist temple just a block from the church, and minutes from Chinatown, Pilsen, and the downtown Loop—close to the action, but tucked in a calm, local pocket where you can truly recharge. It’s the kind of neighborhood where old-school corner bars and creative cafes sit side by side—full of stories and flavor. You’ll find other luxury listings downtown with rooftop pools and skyline views—but they often come with sirens, noise complaints, and crowds. This space gives you the same upscale comfort in a quieter, more authentic Chicago neighborhood where you can actually breathe and unwind. The layout is open—technically one large space without full privacy between bedrooms—but that openness is what makes it feel so spacious and welcoming. The couch folds into a comfy bed, and I’ve tucked a twin air mattress in the closet if someone in your group wants their own sleeping space. There’s an ergonomic desk chair tucked by the reading nook—more comfortable than what most hotels offer—and easy to move to the dining table if you need a casual remote work setup. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend getaway, a week-long vacation, or a work-from-home stay, this flexible setup makes it easy to settle in. I clean like my mother-in-law is coming—she always finds something, so I try to beat her to it. I also run a homemade CR box (a big DIY air purifier I built myself) to keep the air super clean—I’m sensitive to dust, and I know a lot of guests appreciate that extra level of care, especially for allergies or asthma. Everything here is done with intention, and it’s personal to us—especially my wife, Cheena, who micromanaged every little detail, right down to the style of the soap dispenser. We put our hearts into making this more than just a place to crash. It’s a Bridgeport retreat filled with warmth, history, and a little bit of magic—part story, part culture, and hopefully, a memory you’ll take with you. It’s Ritz-Carlton meets your uncle who knows good bread. We’d love to host you. Guest access You’ll have the entire top floor to yourself—private, quiet, and fully separate. Entrance is through the back alley, and there’s a dedicated parking spot back there just for you—no sharing, no extra fees, and it’s right by the back gate. Check-in times are flexible—the listed window just helps with cleaning between guests. If no one’s checking out that day, I’m happy to adjust for you. Other things to note Please treat the home with care and respect—just like you would your own. If you need to stock up on essentials: • Target is a 5-minute drive • Costco is 10 minutes away (great for longer stays) • CVS and Cermak Fresh Market are both walkable for quick groceries Getting around: • The Halsted #8 bus is just a short walk and connects directly to the Orange Line • Or, you can walk ~20 minutes to the Orange Line station if you prefer • There’s also a Divvy bike station (regular + e-bikes) just a block away—perfect for exploring the lakefront trail, Navy Pier, or just getting in some summer outdoor exercise. (That last one’s my favorite part of living here.) Registration Details R26000141421
