If you are looking for a quiet beach retreat with glorious sunsets, endless ocean views and plenty of room for a large group or just a romantic getaway for 2, our villa is your next destination. [NOTE: This property is for sale. It might happen that prospective buyers can only visit it while you are staying there. This is infrequent, but I ask that you make that possible if it does happen. If you are not comfortable with this request, please do not try to book this property. Thank you.] [PLEASE NOTE: For the two weeks around Semana Santa/Pascua and Navidad, we require a minimum booking of at least 4 nights and 12 guests. The rate will be 25-40% higher, depending on the number of guests.] From the moment you walk through the front entrance, you will feel the "beach dreaming" (Playa Sonada) begin. A palapa bar, with eight barstools and views of the pool and Pacific ocean beyond, anchors the property. There are covered terraces and balconies on both of the buildings. Curved stairs, palm trees, thatched roofs, and several colorful planted areas give Villa Playa Sonada a delightful resort feeling. Each of the rooms is named. See references in the following descriptions. Photos refer to named areas. On the east side is the main building. The first floor has a large open living area and gourmet kitchen (Kenya). Sliding glass doors open to the wrap-around terrace with views toward the ocean and the pool. There are three futons in Kenya - providing both seating space and beds for three guests. A large armoir has drawers, shelves and hanging space storage for those sleeping on the futons. Six pullout ottomans can be found under the beautiful stone coffee table to provide additional seating. There is a 32" TV (Sky TV only) plus a DVD player. The gourmet kitchen has two sinks, two ovens and two ranges; lots of storage space and a walk-in pantry. Completing the island is a large eating counter and 4 barstools. Steps away, with an outside entrance, is a bath with shower. On the second floor is the main master bedroom (Bali). It has a queen bed, a daybed, two custom equipale chairs and plenty of closet space. Sliding glass doors open to a large balcony overlooking the ocean. The bath has storage cabinets for more clothes, two sinks, a whirlpool tub and granite tile shower. On the west side of the property is the guest building with covered terraces on both levels. On the first level is an all-purpose room with three bunks, a kitchenette and bath with shower (Pok-ta-Pok). Two closets are also available in this space. Next door is a bedroom (San Cristobal) with 2 twin beds (or 1 king), a desk, closet and ensuite bath with shower. These two rooms (Pok-ta-Pok and San Cristobal) are the only ones with air conditioning. On the second level are three bedrooms. The second master (Oaxaca) opens to both the covered terrace and a private balcony facing the ocean. It has a queen bed, plenty of closet space, chest of drawers, equipale chair and storage chest. The ensuite bath has 2 sinks and granite tile shower. The second bedroom (Toci) has sliding glass doors to the terrace as well as an entrance from the hall. There are two closets, a queen bed, double dresser and equipale chair. The third bedroom (Patzcuaro) faces palm trees and mountains. It has 2 twin beds (or 1 king), a cabinet, armchair and large closet. A loft bed lies on top of the closet (ladder access). There is also a small, private balcony. There is a laundry room behind the guest building and several storage closets (called Bodegas) around the property. Bodega #2 houses pool toys. Bodega #1 (by the laundry) has a rack with extra folding chairs for dining. The first floor terrace of the guest building has a cupboard with assorted games. There is a Weber grill in the garage. It can be rolled out to the patio for use. If you use it, you MUST clean it before checking out. You will be renting the whole property. OUR RATES will depend on the number of guests beginning at $115 USD for 2 people. The rate listed is for use of the public spaces for the entire property. We will not book more than one group at a time. The Christmas and Easter seasons will be 25-40% higher than the normal rate, if available. In most cases, guests will have access to the entire property. With smaller groups, it is possible that we might also be there - using the main master bedroom (Bali). This will be agreed upon before booking. The palapa bar provides good separation between the guest building and main building. Guests have told us that they felt perfectly comfortable with this arrangement. Some guests have asked about hiring someone to cook. If this is a service you wish to have, please ask at the time of booking. This can also be arranged through our property manager or maid. We have a property manager nearby who can be of assistance. We also leave a comprehensive notebook filled with information about the property, resources and things to do. Our property is about 2 km out on a beach road that is 3 km long. The road ends at a turtle sanctuary. We encourage all of our guests to visit this sanctuary (the "Tortugario") and to take a boat ride on the lagoon next to the sanctuary. Our location is very quiet. The town of Cuyutlan is a small beach town with a nice malecon and several beach restaurants - largely specializing in fish dishes. At different times of the year Cuyutlan hosts some very colorful festivals. But this is not a place for night life. We are about half way between (1) the coastal city of Manzanillo with deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, zip lines and golf and (2) the inland city of Colima with archeological sites and an active volcano nearby. Each is a drive of 35-45 minutes away. Our notebook has information on sights and activities for the recreational areas. A CAR is ESSENTIAL for our property. Rental cars are available at both the Manzanillo airport and the Guadalajara airport. Generally, it is cheaper to fly into Guadalajara. However, the Guadalajara airport is about 3 hours from Cuyutlan. Manzanillo is about 1 hour away. We have plenty of parking space. [NOTE: Rates vary by # of guests and season. See note in "The space". This is a beach location 3 km from the town center. You will need a car to get to restaurants and grocery stores. We advise bringing your own food. We also advise you to have a cell phone for use in Mexico. There is no landline.] This is Mexico. We cannot guarantee that everything will work all the time. The TV service is primarily Spanish language. Both TV and internet can be inconsistent. We have no landline phone service. However, we do have wifi internet. The tap water is safe but not meant for drinking. We will be sure to have enough bottled water to start your stay. For longer stays, you will need to purchase water which should be available in town. See the information book.
