Westergeest is located in the middle of an area with historic cycling and hiking trails. The Lauwersmeer National Park is within cycling distance. A unique park that offers a range of opportunities for recreation. Swimming, surfing, sailing, hiking, bird watching. 8 kilometers away is Dokkum, the northernmost city of eleven Frisian cities. In the historic center, you will find cozy shops, beautiful terraces and tasty eateries. You can take a city walk on the Bolwerk. The cozy center of Kollum invites you to shop. Both Groningen and Leeuwarden are easily accessible by both car and train (Buitenpost station). And how about a day trip to one of the Wadden Islands, Schiermonnikoog or Ameland?
