Other things to note Important details for your stay in the Nature Reserve: The Environment: Bahía Salinas is a protected nature reserve. This means you’ll see beautiful wildlife (birds, iguanas) and untouched scenery. It also means you may occasionally catch the sulfur "scent of nature" from the salt flats depending on the wind—a small trade-off for the peace found here. The Beach: The water directly in front is beautiful for viewing and photos, but due to the mangroves, the bottom is soft/muddy and not suitable for swimming. World-class swimming beaches like Playa Sucia are just minutes away. Utilities: While rare, power or water interruptions can occur in Puerto Rico.
