Description
Who are we? We are a group of friends from Mexico, Canada, and the UK. We love our 2 palapas in Puerto Escondido and we’d like to share them with others while we are away (and to look after our plants 😉). As artists and wellness enthusiasts, we have found that the palapas are the best spots to get creative juices going, detach [a bit] from technology, heal, and even video record a podcast or a yoga class. We hope to attract and provide more of that. The space What is a palapa? A palapa refers to a top floor of a building that has a high ceiling made of palm leaves. Our palapa features a stunning ocean view balcony with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, that allow for a cool, constant ocean breeze, to flow through the space the entire time. Despite its rustic nature and feel, our unit’s bohemian style brings a level of comfort and enchantment that will allow you to connect with nature more. The unit has Wi-Fi, a workstation, a private bathroom, and a private fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel pans. We are also proud to provide all natural shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel from Ola Verde, a local organic shop. Where are we located? Our palapa is located off the main road of the entrance to La Punta, Puerto Escondido’s bustling and trendy neighborhood, home to great restaurants, cafes, apparel shops, and surfing. We are located at the top floor of a residential building – except for the amazing bagel and breakfast café downstairs. We are also a 5-minute walk down to beach, a 10-minute walk to the center of all leisurely action, and a 2-minute walk from the main boulevard that traverses all of Puerto Escondido. The airport is only a 15-20 minute drive depending on traffic. If available, our scooter and ATV can be rented at preferred rate if you wish to move around freely. Guest access Guests can find key to the palapa inside the lockbox next to the front door. Code provided the morning of check-in. Other things to note What to mindful of? A/C. The palapa does not have an air conditioner. Our guests have not found the AC necessary given the constant breeze that comes in from the mountains in the morning and the ocean breeze at night. Noise. Having a palapa roof is not much different than being in a yurt or shed when it comes to outside noise. While this palapa is in a great location, it is located in bustling La Punta, and you should expect moderate traffic, construction in the mornings, sporadic nights with locals in the vicinity playing loud music. With that said, we are located on the top floor and our guests have described the noise levels as mild and not disruptive to a really good night’s rest. Residents of the building are great at keeping noise levels low at night. On the more positive, you can hear multiple varieties of birds throughout the day and the serene sound of the waves crashing in the morning as you wake up is unreal. Water. The palapa DOES NOT have hot water and the pressure tends to be low, particularly if there is drought. Wi-Fi. It has been reliable to stay connected to our laptops and phones, and to stream videos and have some facetime calls. The quality of the service sometimes shifts depending on day of the week or time of day. If you need to have a more reliable broadband and faster speeds, there are couple of co-working spaces just a couple of blocks away.
