Tucked away on 1.7 secluded acres atop Lookout Mountain in Mentone, this charming tiny escape offers a cool mountain getaway surrounded by woods, wildlife, and pure tranquility. It’s the kind of place where the world slows down and the only sounds are birdsong and rustling leaves. Start your mornings on the covered front porch with a warm cup of coffee or tea, soaking in peaceful woodland views, and wind down each evening around the rock fire pit in cozy Adirondack chairs. Just minutes from waterfalls, scenic parks, charming shops, and local dining, Tiny Cub House blends serene seclusion with easy access to adventure. Whether you’re here to explore or simply unplug, this is a place to renew, refresh, and feel completely restored. **THE RETREAT PROPERTY** When you turn into the private graveled driveway (follow the blue arrow signs), you will see Tiny Cub House, along with your own private parking area (2 cars max). There are 4 stairs that lead to the covered front porch. This outdoor seating area is an excellent place to unwind at the end of a day full of adventures or enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea in the morning. Stepping inside the front door, you will love all that this peaceful retreat offers guests. With only 200 square feet of indoor living space, Tiny Cub House packs a punch with all of its amenities! To the right, there is a queen bed with a memory foam mattress and comfortable bedding (extra blankets are in the upper cabinet). There is a small electric fireplace to enjoy on cool mornings when you're inside, and there is 43" Roku TV and very fast Wi-Fi for streaming your own channel subscriptions. A desk at the foot of the bed can be used as a remote workspace, and the lamp has a USB charging port. Tiny Cub House has a remote-controlled mini split HVAC system for heating and cooling, small ceiling fan, bathroom ventilation fan, and a dehumidifier in the loft area, so it definitely makes for a very comfortable space and is loved by our Guests. There is a small fold-down dining table that can be lowered from the wall, and then with the press of two buttons, the hinges will allow it to fold up and give you more floor space. In the kitchenette, you will appreciate the thoughtfulness of the homeowners, as there is a beautiful butcher block countertop all the necessities for your retreat in the woods. There is a refrigerator, double-door toaster oven, microwave, 12-cup coffee maker, electric water kettle, 4-quart slow cooker, electric countertop double cast iron burner, electric griddle, stainless cooking pots, teak wood cooking utensils, can opener, dishes, drinking glasses, wine glasses, eating utensils, coffee mugs, cooking spices, and more! Moving through the main living area, there is a sliding barn-style door beside the refrigerator that leads to a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo. Through the bathroom, there is a small staircase that lead to the sleeping area. Up the stairs, there is a full-size loft bed with a 5" memory foam mattress and comfortable bedding. The lamp has a USB charging port. Back outside and near the covered front porch, there is a rock fire pit with 4 comfortable Adirondack chairs. You are welcomed to use any small pieces of fallen wood on the property that can safely fit inside the fire pit, and firewood bundles are sold at nearby stores. Please only burn firewood, as the homeowners and guests roast food over this fire pit. Extendable roasters are located in the kitchen for your convenience, so be sure to bring ingredients for s'more memories :) There is also a propane BBQ grill (grilling utensils are located in a kitchen cabinet)! You will be given access to a list of favorite attractions and restaurants! Waterfalls, national preserve, state parks, zip lining, hiking, picnicking, rappelling, horseback trail rides, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, wild animal preserve, golfing, swimming, museums, glass blowing, making pottery, skiing (seasonal), unique local dining, antique shopping, scenic drives, and MORE! So that you can experience life on the mountain like locals, we provide our guests with a list of all the attractions and restaurants! Chattanooga is only an hour away - Birmingham and Atlanta are less than 2 hours away! **OUR POLICIES** You will receive an email to e-sign a vacation rental agreement and upload your photo ID before the reservation is complete. This retreat property is dog-friendly (small to medium dogs only - 2 dogs max), and a $69 pet fee is applied per dog for this home. Dogs must be leashed at all times. This retreat property does not allow smoking anywhere on the property. Quiet Hours 8pm to 8am. Exterior security cameras are located at this property. Parking area allows 2 cars max (unless host authorization) There is a $300 security deposit HOLD required for this retreat property. Guests will receive text and email communication from Peaceful Retreats prior, during and after each retreat. **GIVE-BACK** Peaceful Retreats gives back 10% of all revenue commission collected from reservations at Tiny Cub House to Friends of DeKalb County Alabama Animal Adoption Center. Friends of DCAAC is an all-volunteer, foster-based nonprofit organization with a mission dedicated to provide more resources to unite deserving animals with a perfect family to call their own. Guest access Once the reservation is complete, and 24 hours before scheduled check-in, Guests will receive access to the retreat property.
