The space Designed for those who love classic comforts, the Secretariat Room on the third floor features antique woods, leather accents, houndstooth patterns and gold finishes that create a warm, Virginian retreat. (**Please note the Townsman is currently undergoing a "refresh" ready Feb 1st 2025. So there may be some furnishings, fixtures or other minor adjustments from the existing photos. New photos will be uploaded soon!**) This distinctively designed room is situated in Townsman Hotel. It is unlike your typical hotel. That’s why we call it the 'unhotel'. Poised just above or in the middle of Charlottesville’s bustling and historical Downtown Mall or the walking mall packed with restaurants, bars, shops, and more. It is in between Mudhouse Coffee and Rockfish Brewing Company, with no staff and no front desk, which feels like a well-kept secret right in the center of all the action. Once you book with us, a personal code will be provided for access and all you have to do is show up. No check-in. No hassles. Explore the greater Charlottesville area and discover some of the best places to dine, shop, relax, and do a variety of activities such as hiking, biking, shopping, enchanting night life, and navigating through historical sites such as Thomas Jefferson's home of Monticello and the well-known Rotunda, all right below your feet. Start your day with breakfast at The Nook, enjoy wine tastings at local vineyards, and dine at The Alley Light with options for post-dinner drinks or dancing. All of the rooms require access via stairs. Guest access Arrival and access instructions will be sent via text 3 days prior to arrival and on the arrival day. Please be sure to read all of the instructions carefully. You will access the building and your room via unique codes on the locks. Parking: A complimentary parking space is provided with your room. It is about a 5 minute walk from the Townsman. Please reference your arrival information for suggestions for unloading bags and directions to the parking space. STAIRS ARE REQUIRED Other things to note Note: The Townsman is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a historic building with NO elevator.
