Nestled into a wooded 2.5 acre lot, you'll enjoy the immediate surroundings & have access to all the sights in the area. Take a short drive to waterfalls, hikes & quaint small towns. Relax & take in the views on the private dock, large deck, canoe, kayak, or paddle board available to you. You'll also enjoy the comforts of the wood burning fireplace, well-stocked kitchen, TV, foosball table & more! Guest access This cottage provides a large open concept living room, kitchen, dining room with a large wood burning fireplace. The living room connects to a large deck that provides views of the small private lake that can be accessed from our property. This cottage has a master bedroom with a king sized bed and an en suite bathroom. NOTE: This listing is the same house as my other listing (Lakeside Lodge) but the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms and 2nd bathroom are closed off. This listing is for couples and single travelers that want to save money while by staying at the smaller version of this property. No one else will be staying in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, they will be locked. Other things to note Comfort: This cottage was built in the 1960s and it has a lot of rustic charm. This home is cooled by multiple portable AC units and ceiling fans. This combination keeps this home comfortable on the hottest days of the summer. So if you are used to central AC and keeping the home around 72 degrees you will be comfortable. For winter months, the home has central heating as well as access to space heaters in each bedroom. A wood burning fireplace is available in the living room for extra warmth and ambiance.🔥🔥Check in with me at the time of your stay to see if firewood is available (there is often extra firewood for guests). Also know that firewood can be purchased at local hardware stores, grocery stores and convenience stores. Phones: Cell phone service can be limited in this remote location depending on your provider. However, if you enable WiFi calling on your smartphone, you should be able to call and text from this location without any problems. A land line phone is also available for guests to use just in case. The Lake: The cottage is located on a small private lake named Blue Ridge Lake (it is not on the Lake Toxaway itself, don’t be confused because the address states it is in the community of “Lake Toxaway, NC.”) This lake is spring-fed by a few neighboring mountain springs. While the lake has fish living in it, it is not always stocked for fishing. The water is not fast moving enough for mountain trout to breed, but my neighbor sometimes stocks the lake with trout. Other fish include carp, crappie, blue gill, and possibly some small bass. Guests are welcome to fish (catch and release). Noise: This vacation home is in a remote location, and is often very quiet which allows guests to hear the sounds of nature. There is a farm in this neighborhood so guests should expect to hear some distant noises from their horses, tractors, chickens, and dogs that often stay outside. There are occasional noises from our neighbors talking and working on their lawns/gardens. Swimming: This spring-fed lake stays cool all summer for those who want to swim, and the water in the central sections of the lake is good to swim in. If you're interested in swimming, message me for instructions for a certain section of my shoreline that I firmed up with rocks so that it is good for entering the water (the shoreline is soft and murky in most places which is the downside of having huge beautiful trees that drop leaves near the shore). Also, If you are comfortable on a paddle board, you can also paddle out to the deep central sections of the lake so you can swim off the paddle board. Know that the water around the dock is not deep enough for swimming or diving, but the dock is great for launching the canoe, kayak, and paddle board. It is a very tranquil and beautiful little lake for boating and paddle boarding.
