This solar-powered cabin is privately tucked away in the woods just beyond our pasture and home to grass fed cattle and poultry. With 5 beds that sleep 7 people, our off grid cabin is a unique place to re-connect with friends or get away with your loved ones and relax in nature. THE CABIN HAS NO AC, WIFI, AND IS HEATED WITH FIREPLACE The space This intimate and whimsical space was built years ago and owned by the Firestone family, restored and hand-crafted 12 years ago and we continue to add updates each year. This is an off-grid cabin run by solar panels and a generator. Somewhere between glamping and a traditional house stay, this cabin in the woods will let you connect with nature and unwind, but won't have quite all the comforts of home. This quaint cabin holds 3 sleeping spaces: 1 private, and two open in the loft. The private bedroom on the first floor has a bunk bed with full and twin mattresses. Climb the Jeffersonian stairs to the loft area with a queen mattress and custom upholstered headboard. Adventure further through the CRAWL SPACE to where two twin mattresses await (*requires youthful mobility). The small kitchenette includes a two-burner gas stove and SMALL mini-fridge. It is stocked with basic cooking supplies to be used on the stove top and dinnerware, a French press & ground coffee, tea and snacks. There are also many wonderful restaurants within a few miles of our property. NOTE: THERE IS NO AIR-CONDITIONING as the power would not sustain it, so book your stay in the hot months with that in mind. The Primary heat source is a soap stone wood stove. Two fires a day, morning & evening, will keep you warm BUT IT WILL TAKE A FEW HOURS FOR THE HEAT TO RADIATE THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. Kindling and a crate of wood per day are provided. Extra crates of wood are available for purchase. The secondary source of heat is a propane heater in the bedroom, but we ask that you do not adjust the setting. The cabin is 100% solar powered and off-grid. If the solar battery runs out (if it's a cloudy day, for example), there is a generator available in the shed behind the cabin as a back up with instructions in the cabin manual. This cabin is ran by both solar and generator, so be prepared to run it if needed. Outdoors you'll find cozy furniture, a tire swing and a group-worthy fire pit with seating. You can find wood for a campfire around the property or you are welcome to bring your own. There are 10 roasting sticks (behind the stairs) for your use. Make sure to clean them after use. Enjoy wandering amongst the trees, but Please note, the fences around the property are electrified for the animals' safety. Guest access Guests will have private and full access to the whole cabin and property around. Other things to note Our off-grid cabin is a beautiful and secluded place for you to come and connect with others while unplugging.
