Description
Nestled in the woods, "Black Bear" cabin offers the best of both worlds. A relaxing country retreat yet close to everything. It is the perfect starting point to a downtown Asheville excursion, just 15 minutes away, and to an endless array of outdoor activities in the Blue Ridge Mountains. 3 miles away is the charming town of Weaverville with its quaint atmosphere, artisan shops and distinctive restaurants. (For sights and hikes and their distance from the cabin, please check "The Neighborhood") The space "Black Bear" is a 300 square feet cabin. Too small for comfort? Absolutely not! The open layout, large windows and sloped ceiling make the space feel bigger than it is. Yet it feels cozy and intimate. The covered porch adds a comfortable outdoor living space that you can enjoy in all seasons. The cabin sits on a 5.6 acres property, about 120 feet down from our house and 50 feet up from our other cabin "Arrowhead" (See below Other things to note). However, the homes are oriented in such a way that your privacy is guaranteed. Among the necessaries provided for your comfort: a simple but well equipped kitchen with a counter high refrigerator with chiller compartment, a two-burner cooktop, a microwave, a Breville toaster oven and a Keurig coffee maker with a full tray of complimentary k-cups. A separate bathroom with a shower. Most of the furniture is handmade with reclaimed wood. Guest access Uber and Lyft are not always available. From recent guests' experience, it looks like they are more available during the day than in the evening. Other things to note Check out our other listing, "Arrowhead" cabin, twin sister of "Black Bear", about 50 feet down from it. Please be advised that in case of snow, a AWD is necessary to come up the driveway. Snow events mainly happen in January and February, but they are not frequent at our elevation (around 2,200 ft) A large part of our driveway is gravel. Despite our best efforts to maintain it, it is uneven and bumpy in spots, due to the washing away caused by heavy rains. Please do not book for someone else if you don't intend to stay at the cabin. It is against Airbnb policy.
