WINTER SKI PROMOTION We are located just 10 minutes from the best skiing in the Mid-west, Boyne Highlands & Nubs Nob and 25 minutes to Boyne Mt. Book 30 days in advance and receive a 20 percent discount on weekly rates. We are also located on some of the best snowmobile trails in Northern MI. Snowmobile directly from Your Vacation Home to Harbor Springs Snowmobile trails. Excellent x-country trails are nearby as well. The space Welcome to LaNanna’s! We are located directly on Crooked Lake, part of the Inland Waterway which connects 4 lakes and 3 rivers with access to the Mackinaw Straights. Our cottage is equipped with 4 bicycles, 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, fishing gear, sand toys, beach chairs, coolers, an outdoor fire pit, Serenity/Fairy Garden and a decorated "She Shed". We are also located just 10 minutes from the Mid-west’s best downhill skiing at Boyne Highlands & Nubs Nob and just 25 minutes to Boyne Mt. We are also directly on Northern Michigans best snowmobiling and x-country trails. The Tri-toon boat (seating for 8 people) is also for rent on a separate contract. We hope you enjoy your stay. This booklet provides you with information about the cottage operation, boating on the Inland Waterway, and exploring the surrounding area, with suggestions for restaurant’s, beaches, biking and ALL there is to do in “The Tip of The Mitt” of Michigan. We wish you good weather, happy times, and memories to last a life time! Our family built this vacation home 20 years ago, and upon retirement, my husband and I moved here permanently. When my husband passed away unexpectedly last June, I decided to move back downstate to be with loved ones. The only way we can continue to keep our beloved home in Northern Michigan is to share it with guests like you, who in turn help offset the taxes and property insurance. Fall and Winter are equally as beautiful Up here. Sincerely, Jill Magrum-Host Check – In 1. Check in is at 5:00 PM; our cleaning service may contact you for an earlier arrival time. 2. Please note the following:  There is a large trash can in the garage for garbage; if you are departing on Friday, please set the trash can outside for pick up either Thursday evening or by 7am Friday morning.  Switches for garbage disposal & dishwasher are located on wall right of the sink. The kitchen is equipped with coffee, tea, coffee pot, blender, Air Fryer and all the essentials. The gas fireplace switch is located on the wall in the living room by the closet. Jacuzzi jets for bathtub- switch on left as you enter the master bath. outdoor lighting, great room ceiling fan, and overhead lighting are located on the wall – far side of the bar.. Please note: It is unwise to keep the outdoor lights ON as the light attracts bugs. Also, the fireplace is like a furnace and will heat the upstairs at a much quicker rate than the downstairs.  All bedrooms are air conditioned, have ceiling fans and individual fans. Please turn off when not in use. To keep the main floor cool, open the front door, windows and sliding glass door; there is almost always a breeze. There are additional fans in the front closet.  There are additional folding chairs and table in the front closet.  We are on a sewer, therefore, please be mindful of the amount of toilet paper used and please nothing else should be flushed down the toilets.  The thermostat is located right of the entertainment center and is set at 67 degrees, you may adjust accordingly, however, remember, there is no central air conditioning.  There are extra sheets, towels and blankets in the main floor linen closet and upstairs in the cabinet.  The futon in the Loft can be opened into a full bed, but it takes two to do this. First, move out a bit from the wall, As one person pushes on the back, the other pulls from the seat. There are sheets, pillows and a comforter in the cedar chest.  There is a television in all bedrooms and in the living room, all are Fire T.V.’s with some local channels ….all remotes are labeled,  There are many games, puzzles, books and toys in the closet near the entertainment center as well as under the bar, and in the linin closet.  THE WIFI PASSWORD IS: Crooked75! If you are renting in the summer, most of your time will be spent exploring the area, outside on the deck, in the serenity garden, around the campfire, on the lake and in the “She Shed”. Please note the following for enjoying the outdoors:  Please put the outdoor umbrella down at night, when the wind picks up, during a storm, and upon departure.  The outdoor fountains can be turned on with a switch in the herb garden and the switch in the front garden is located on the large tree trunk; please turn off when heading in at night.  The flowers and fountains get water every Friday when the lawn service comes, but if dry, please give them some water; there are three hoses, one on the deck, one by the dock and one in the front.  There is wood and brush for campfires, however, if you are using every night for hours, please purchase some of your own. There is lighter fluid as well as bug spray in the black box and in the “She Shed” – Never start a fire with gasoline also please be mindful of strong winds from the east, please extinguish a fire in strong winds; there is a hose on the dock.  The “She Shed” is great for relaxing, sleeping, crafting, reading and meditation. Inside are yoga mats, music, crafts, beach toys, and books. There is a fan and heater in there as well. Enjoy, but remember it is also a garden shed, therefore, there are sharp tools and garden mixes – please monitor toddlers closely. Also, Cleaning Staff does not clean the She Shed; please leave it as you found it.  Bicycles, Fishing Poles, tackle box, coolers, and beach chairs are located in the garage. You have access to the garage after coming through the front door. The remote is located just left of the door. Closest place to get bait is at Youngs in Alanson.  First Aid kits are located in the linen closet next to the master bathroom  Fire Extinguisher – is located in the Laundry Room.  Swimmer’s Ick – Is caused by duck poop in the inland lakes; it causes an itchy rash. The best way to prevent this is to use sunscreen, towel off vigorously, and always shower with soap after swimming. The cottage is approx. 2000 sq feet, 2 story, with garage and 3 large bedrooms- sleeping up to 12 people. We are located directly on the lake, with dock, fire pit, fully furnished She Shed, large front deck w/BBQ grill, large umbrella table, 2 kayaks, and a canoe. The Tri- toon Float Boat may be rented under a separate contract. We are centrally located near 7 harbor towns. Lake Michigan is just 10 minutes away, bicycles & fishing poles available - bike path directly across the street and Headlands Dark Sky Park is just up the road, 25 minutes. Points of interest in the area Beaches Petoskey State Park – Lake Michigan Dunes, Sand Volleyball ,Kayak Rentals, Concession Stand, Bathhouse Pet-O-SE-GA– Pickerel Lake Sand beach, grassy area, great playground, restrooms Walloon Lake – sand beach, playground Harbor Springs-Little Traverse Bay Municipal park, restrooms, sandy beach, swim raft, picnic tables Downtown Harbor Springs Petoskey, Bay Front Park & Pier Sand beach, waterfall, ball courts, playground, restrooms, concession stand: Downtown Petoskey Bicycling Little Traverse Wheel way – Spectacular bicycle path- much of which is along the shores of Lake Michigan; from Mackinaw City to Charlevoix, from tree covered wetlands to harbor towns, multiple inland lakes and wildlife unfolding to beautiful Lake Michigan. Access from LaNanna’s is directly across the street. Cross Rt. 31, to Blumke – North (right) to Alanson – Mackinaw, South (Left) to Lake Michigan, Petosky, Petoskey State Park, Harbor Springs, Bay Harbor, and Charlevoix–Bicycles in the garage are for guests to use at their own risk; there are also rentals in all town. Tunnel of Trees- ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DRIVES IN AMERICA From Harbor Springs, head north on Rt. 119, very winding and tree covered with great views of Lake Michigan. Along the tunnel of trees, you’ll find – THORN SWIFT NATURE PRESERVE with an Educational Museum/Playroom for kids, short walk through wetlands & forest to Lake Michigan and a great beach. Pond Hill Farm is next on the trip, a farm & winery with great food & drink, outdoor seating and entertainment. Following is the small town of GOOD HEART- great lil gift shops & General Store. Continue on to Cross Village, stop into Legg's Inn, great Polish food & drink, garden seating overlooking Lake Michigan, with views of the Mackinaw Bridge. Further up the road is Sturgeon Bay & Wilderness State Park, public swimming at both. Continue to Headlands International Dark Sky Park, one of only a few dark sky parks in the US; great star-gazing, observatory and a gift shop. Now, you are minutes to Mackinaw City, the ferries to Mackinaw Island and the Mackinaw Bridge. Hiking / Walking/ Nature Preserves Oden Fish Hatchery: Just 2.5 miles south (left) on Little Traverse Wheel way. A perfect bike ride/walk through nature with babbling brooks, trout ponds, tours of the fishery, historic railcar, and gift shop. Thorn Swift Nature Preserve – Rt. 119, Harbor Springs-children museum, hike to Lake Michigan Bear River – Petoskey, Lake Street, across from Bay Front Park, beautiful hike along the roaring Bear River. McCune Nature Preserve- 1565 Berger Rd, Petoskey Very cool – short hike across the Minnehaha creek and bridge Petoskey State Park- Rt. 119, Petoskey Casinos ODOWA – PETOSKEY, just off Rt. 131 – behind Walmart ST. INGNAS – UPPER PENINSULA Golf-public in the area: They are Everywhere; those close by include: Bay View, Bay Harbor, Chestnut Valley, Crooked Tree, Boyne Highlands Boyne Highlands & Boyne Mountain Golfing, Zip Lines, Mountain Biking, Spa, Restaurants at both resorts Boyne Mt - The Sky Bridge – second largest suspension bridge in Michigan; take a chair lift Up and walk across the bridge with stunning views of Northern Michigan. Boyne Mt also has an Indoor Waterpark – Avalanche Bay Big Bear Adventures ~Indian River Restaurants/Bars/Pubs There are too many to list, therefore, I will list our favorites. Our Favorites: Breakfast: Brutus Camp Deli – 5 miles north in Brutus, Quintessential Northern MI logger man's café with Logger man size servings; excellent food, environment, and staff Small Batch At the Cupola – Harbor Springs, Gourmet food served in a unique and cozy venue Turkey’s- Harbor Springs, classic Harbor venue, good food, outdoor seating as well Best Burger: Petoskey Brewery – Petoskey, Rt. 119 Best Pizza/Pub Food/Atmosphere Vivio’s – Indian River – Full Italian Menu along with Steak & Salmon. Another quintessential Northern MI venue, red checkered table clothes, log cabin & many critters (on the walls- taxidermy) Great Family Venue, pleasing to adults and kids alike. Vernalle’s – Petoskey, Rt. 119 – across from the State Park. Sports bar with tasty pub food and great pizza; also a separate chop house w/ great steaks and seafood. Duffy’s: Lake St. Petoskey, Two story restaurant with an upstairs veranda overlooking Lake Michigan. Good Pub food & Pizza Mitchell Street Pub: Classic N. Michigan Pub, cool & dark, complete with Moose, Hemmingway, leg lamp and much more. Great Food & Service- Try the French Onion Soup! The Back Lot: Petoskey, Multiple Food Trucks, a variety of family favorites and ethnic food. All outdoors, great for families, kids, groups – much to choose from!!! Pierson’s – Harbor Springs – A favorite of the locals; great food and atmosphere. My favorite for salmon & sandwiches. Steaks & Seafood Douglas Lake Bar & Grill – $$$$ on Douglas Lake, casual, but upscale menu. Indoor/Outdoor seating. The steaks are great! Any Stafford’s Restaurant: $$$$ The Pier: Harbor Springs The Perry: The Rose Room, Petoskey The Weathervane: Charlevoix The Northwood – $$$ Directly across the street – Large Blue Restaurant- Great Menu, Locals love this place. Good Steaks, Seafood, Lake food, reasonably priced Bob's - Downtown Alanson, Friday's "All You Can Eat Fish Fry" Jerk Depot - Downtown Alanson, good food, nightly entertainment on weekends. Lucky’s – Petoskey – Good food at a reasonable price – nice place for families Best Mediterranean: Mims – Rt. 31, Petoskey – carry out and small restaurant – Great food! Perch Fish Fry on Thursdays & Fridays Guest access Guests will have access to the entire home, garage, deck, dock & yard. The Tri-toon Float boat is available to rent through a separate contract. Other things to note Air conditioning & TV’S in all bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen with all essentials, BBQ grill, large deck overlooking the lake, dock, 2 kayaks & canoe, side yard w/fire Pit, furnished She Shed, swing chairs, water fountains & fairy gardens. Bicycles, sleds, some x-country & downhill skis available to use. Ski resorts just 10 minutes away, snowmobile from the property directly to trails.
