Ask for details The space Church Barn – A luxurious escape in the Shropshire Hills Hidden beneath some of England’s darkest skies, Church Barn is a beautifully restored stone barn designed for people who love nature, great food and beautiful places. Wake to birdsong, spend the day walking the spectacular hills straight from the front door, then return to light the wood-fired pizza oven, pour a glass of wine and dine beneath the stars. Afterwards, soak in the wood-fired cedar hot tub while tawny owls call across the valley. This is slow living at its best. Inside you’ll find a characterful Grade II listed barn where original oak beams and stone walls meet luxurious contemporary comfort. Outside, the gardens invite you to linger—from breakfast in the sunshine to long evenings around the outdoor kitchen. The village has two excellent country pubs within walking distance, while Church Stretton, just one mile away, offers independent cafés, restaurants, delicatessens, supermarkets and everything you’ll need during your stay. Whether you’re here to climb the Long Mynd, cycle quiet country lanes, discover historic towns and castles, celebrate a special occasion, work remotely somewhere inspiring or simply disappear with a good book, Church Barn offers the space to slow down and reconnect. Stay for the way it makes you feel. Outdoor Living Church Barn has its own private outdoor space to the rear, while the surrounding gardens are part of my home and are enjoyed separately. Your private area has been designed for relaxed outdoor living, with a wood-fired pizza oven, barbecue, fire bowl and outdoor dining area, making it easy to spend long summer evenings cooking, eating and unwinding together. The outdoor kitchen is available for guests to enjoy at no additional charge. As with any wood-fired equipment, we simply ask that it is used responsibly and entirely at your own risk. If you’d like something a little more special, outdoor pizza evenings with prepared dough, local ingredients and guidance can also be arranged by prior agreement. For an even more indulgent stay, the wood-fired cedar hot tub and sauna are available as optional experiences for stays of three nights or longer. These are prepared especially for each booking and can be arranged in advance for an additional charge Due to current extreme weather conditions (August 2026) the pizza oven sauna and hot tub are not to be used due to the small but real risk of any open fires. Please check with me if in doubt! Guest access I live next door in St Michael’s Barn, so I’m usually close by if you need anything during your stay. Other things to note Church Barn is designed as a peaceful countryside retreat. It sits discreetly at the rear of my own home, St Michael’s Barn, with its own private entrance, garden and outdoor kitchen, so you’ll have your own space while knowing help is close by if needed. The outdoor kitchen, with its wood-fired pizza oven, barbecue and fire bowl, is available for guests to enjoy and should be used responsibly and at your own risk. If you’d like a memorable evening, wood-fired pizza night packages can be arranged in advance. The wood-fired cedar hot tub and barrel sauna are not included in the standard booking but can be reserved for stays of three nights or more by prior arrangement, subject to availability. Please note that, as this is a tranquil retreat surrounded by neighbouring homes and open countryside, we ask guests to respect the peaceful setting, especially during the evening.
