The historic Chestnut Log Cabin is probably the most unique home at Wintergreen. A true log cabin, beams were transported from Eastern Maryland and carefully reconstructed into a modern mountain homestead. Outdoor pool/tennis access in season. The space The Chestnut Cabin on Fortunes Ridge is probably the most unique home in the Wintergreen community. Built in 1976 from reclaimed chestnut logs transported from a rare two story log cabin in Western Maryland, the house was “put back together” in a story and a half design. The fireplace stones were likewise reclaimed and reassembled. The original house would have been two large rooms on the main level and two large spaces in a loft above. The wide plank pine flooring was also reused. Supplied by Mountain Lumber in Nelson county the unusually wide planks are very scarce. The current owners enlarged the back half of the cabin, removing a “kids” loft and adding a sunroom with cathedral ceilings. The outdoor decking has a wonderful view to the east.
