Welcome to Vista Maya, our magical lakeside escape on the shores of Lake Atitlán! The villa offers two spacious bedrooms, each with a private terrace and king-size orthopedic mattress. The terraces are perfect for yoga, meditation or relaxing with a coffee. Enjoy cozy sofas and hammocks or a double hammock to snuggle up! Just 70 steps from the crystal-clear water.Our new, expansive dock was just completed, so you can enjoy a refreshing swim, sunbathe, or jump on a boat and start your adventures. The space Vista Maya is our chic, newly renovated property located in the heart of Tzununa Bay. It incorporates 10-million-year-old rock formations and blends rustic charm with modern styling. There are two bedrooms with king-size beds and down-alternative comforters, each featuring private terraces perfect for enjoying a morning cup of coffee, yoga, a glass of wine in the evening, or relaxing with a private massage. Both bedrooms feature floor to ceiling windows with privacy blinds and full wall sliding doors that allow you to experience the beauty of Tzununa bay. The terraces feature teak flooring with comfy sofas, a hammock, or a double hammock for snuggling. They also offer unobstructed views of all three volcanos. My favorite thing to do is lay in the double hammock in the evening and listen to the waves crash gently on the rocks. The upper bedroom has a large shower and a luxurious 71” soaking tub for relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day of exploring. Dr. Teal's bubble bath is provided for all our guests. The lower bedroom has a full glass shower featuring handpicked stones from the lake. Just outside the lower bedroom, there is a mini-fridge, sink, and coffee maker. We provide coffee, sugar, and creamer for our guests. We have a gas on-demand hot water system to ensure consistent hot water, even during power interruptions. Dedicated workstations with Wi-Fi are available in both bedrooms. Kitchen & Dining The full kitchen is well-stocked with a 5-burner gas stove, microwave, and plenty of cooking utensils (crockpot, wok, blender. The lower terrace has a 4 person dining table to enjoy meals together and the upper terrace now has a small 2 person table for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or a quiet dinner for two. Off the kitchen, there is a patio dining area where you can enjoy breakfast with a view of the San Pedro Volcano and the city. Here, you will also find a full outdoor bathroom with a shower for rinsing off after a refreshing swim. Outdoor Spaces The private dock is perfect for sunbathing, taking in the views of the volcanoes, or experiencing epic sunsets. It’s also a great Insta spot! Public boats pass by the dock all day from 7 AM to 6 PM. Our eco-friendly green roof is covered in St. Augustine grass, offering incredible views. A staircase leads from the rooftop to the road above, where you can take a walk into Tzununa or catch a Tuk-Tuk to San Marcos. We are also located just down the hill from the walking path that connects to the neighboring villages of Jaibalito and Santa Cruz. The neighboring property, Sacred Cliff, shares the path next to our home for accessing the road above. They have a traditional Temazcal that we have access to for a nominal fee per person. There is also a diving board if you’d like to take a plunge into the lake. Things to Do We have two paddle boards available for use to explore the beautiful Tzununa bay. Allow Antonio our guardian(your personal assistant) to ready them for you and put them away when your finished with your adventure. If you want to experience a sunrise on the paddleboards just let us know the day before and Antonio will arrive early to assist you. He is on the property daily from 7am-4 pm. You can catch a boat at the private dock to start your adventure. Explore the lake's villages, each with its own unique character. Panajachel: Known for its bustling artisanal markets, diverse restaurants, and vibrant nightlife. San Pedro La Laguna: Famous for its nightlife and opportunities to hike up the San Pedro Volcano. Santa Cruz La Laguna: Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, offering scenic hiking trails and engaging craft workshops. San Marcos La Laguna: Known for its spiritual and yoga-centered vibe, stunning views, and serene ambiance. Visit the nearby nature reserve to enjoy a 10-meter diving platform and areas perfect for swimming or lounging. San Juan: Renowned for its art galleries and some of the best coffee shops on the lake. San Antonio Palopó: Offers exquisite ceramics and textiles that showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire property with the exception of the 3rd private bedroom that will be locked. The property is situated on the outskirts of town, away from the hustle and bustle. Our home is located directly in front of the water, with approximately 70 steps leading to the villa. Many homes around the lake require navigating 100 to 300 steps, so our property is more accessible. However, please consider this if anyone in your group has mobility issues. Other things to note Before Booking • Power Outages: We are in a rural area and occasionally experience power outages without notice from the electric company. Emergency lights are provided for your use. • Supplies: Purified drinking water is provided for our guests. We also provide coffee, sugar, and creamer upon arrival. Tzununa has small stores with basic supplies (e.g., eggs, bread, drinks), but we recommend stopping at La Torre supermarket in Panajachel for additional groceries. • Insects: Lake Atitlán is home to diverse wildlife. You may occasionally encounter insects, including wall spiders (completely harmless) and scorpions. The scorpion sting is similar to that of a bee sting but may be worse for guests prone to allergic reactions. While we take steps to deter them, but you may see them from time to time. Please consider this before booking the property. • Shared Path: The property shares a path with the adjacent property to access the road, and you may see other guests passing by occasionally. • Smoking Policy: Please do not smoke in the villa or on the terraces. A designated smoking area is available in the outdoor dining area, where an ashtray is provided.
