Fjörukot

Cozy and comfortable little cottage by the sea with rich birdlife and beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Only 45 minutes from Reykjavík and 90 minutes from the airport. The space Fjörukot is located on a farm where I live with my family. The cottage is approximately 500m from the farm, so it is far enough for you to enjoy you stay without much interruption. We recently renovated the cottage and we put our heart and soul into it so our guests can enjoy it's cozyness. There is space for 4 people to sleep. On the sleeping loft we have 2 beds and in the living room there is a sleeping couch that is suitable for 2 people. In order to use the space in our cottage as well as possible we put a stair to the sleeping loft. I have to say though that it is rather steep and therefore not suitable for children under 3 years of age. The kitchen has all necessary appliances and tableware. The cottage is close to 2 other small cottages that are currently not in use and privately owned by family members. On the farm we breed horses and sheep and my husband runs a small workshop here as well, so there can be some traffic during the day from 8am - 5pm. It should not affect your stay since the cottage is located approximately 500 meters from the farm itself and we have blocked most of the view from the farm, when staying in the cottage or at the terrace. Occasionally you might see some of our horses or sheep in the nearby fields. You should also be prepared for a visit from our very friendly and welcoming dogs. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage. I kindly ask you not to visit the farm without contacting me first. Other things to note Fjörukot is ideally located for daytrips such as the Golden Circle, area of Borgarfjörður and Snæfellsnes peninsula. Nearby is also Hvalfjörður where the highest waterfall in Iceland Glymur is located and you can enjoy hiking in the spectacular surroundings of the waterfall. In Hvalfjörður I can also recommend the Natural Hotsprings in Hvammsvík where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the fjord.
