Favourite Tips: Boydell’s in Morpeth is a gorgeous cafe/restaurant /tapas/cellar door situated in a renovated original 1800’s timber house with incredible exposed wooden ceilings. One of my faves for sure. The Victoria Pub, a short stroll down the road has outside eating on the river so is great for children the view is gorgeous, The Commercial Hotel in Morpeth has really great food and country charm. Common Grounds in Morpeth has the best coffee. Ometto Pizza bar in Maitland (10 minute drive) has incredible Italian woodier Pizzas. Aloi Thai in Maitland is the best Thai you can order take away and eat on the river in front of the premises. Fratelli Roma in Maitland is great Italian and all their pasta is home made on the premises. Beautiful country side all around the property for walking, bike riding, running and fishing. An ideal 4 day getaway itinerary for me while staying at Vintage Steel would be: Day 1, explore the local village of Morpeth and relax at the property enjoying the pool or fire with dinner at the local Hinton pub. Day 2, head on a day trip to the Hunter Valley wine region, approximately a 35-40 minute drive away. Day 3, explore the magical beaches of Port Stephens, an easy 40-minute drive. Day 4, enjoy the local cafes, restaurants and markets with a spot of fishing or jetty jumping into the river.
