Description
Enjoy a comfortable stay at this centrally located detached mother-in-law apartment. One block from the Capitol complex and a 10-minute walk to downtown Olympia, the Owl’s Nest offers colorful, eclectic charm in an ideal location. Newly remodeled, this private unit features a fully-stocked kitchen, a comfortable full-sized bed, and a cozy office with a fold-out full-size bed. Ideal for couples, small families, or remote workers, it’s ideal for exploring Olympia or your gateway to the Olympics. The space As travelers ourselves, we’ve had our fair share of hits and misses with booking apartments and homes, spaces that look great in photos but feel impersonal or lack the little comforts that make you feel at home. When we set out to create this space, we thought about what we’d want for our closest friends and family. That’s why we’ve filled it with thoughtful touches: a comfy bed with pillows you’ll sink into, mirrors where they actually make sense, surfaces to drop your keys onto after a long day, and plenty of room to unpack and settle in. This 1.5-bedroom apartment has its own story. The building started as a single-family home, which we moved onto our property, not unlike the houses relocated to make way for airports and freeways back in the day! Over the past two years, we’ve reimagined it completely, tearing down walls, painting, and bringing it back to life as a bright, colorful project. Every room has a piece of original art we’ve collected along the way, making it feel like a little gallery of its own. Inside, you’ll find a living room filled with plants and cozy seating, a dining table for meals or game nights, and a main bedroom with a modern foam mattress, dressers, and plenty of soft lighting. The office/guest room pulls double duty: it has a full-size pullout futon bed, a desk for work or writing postcards, and just the right amount of moody lighting to wind down. We also made sure you’ll stay comfortable year-round with a mini-split for heating and cooling. The kitchen? It’s stocked with everything we’ve wished for during our own travels, a coffee maker with coffee and filters included, a rice cooker, sharp knives, and condiments for when you don’t want to run out for one little thing. Whether you’re whipping up a full dinner or just reheating takeout, it’s ready for you. In the living room, you’ll find a curated DVD collection (sometimes it’s nice to take a break from endless scrolling), plus a Roku if you want to stream. And while the entrance is fully private and separate from our home, we’re nearby if you need tips for the area, an extra blanket, or a random spice needed to finish your dish. We hope it feels like your home away from home. NOTE: January 2026 - Construction has been taking place next door for approximately 12 months now. Luckily, it's almost complete! They start work around 8:00 AM on weekdays only. The windows are all newer and double-pane. We have earplugs for your convenience. You can see from our recent reviews that this has not impacted our guests stays. Guest access Guests have a private entrance up a dozen wide stairs, ensuring privacy and ease of access. You'll have one dedicated outdoor parking space, with additional options available upon request. The apartment also includes an in-unit washer and dryer for your convenience.
