Bird Song - eco vintage shack

Bird Song is an eco shack built and furnished with recycled and vintage materials. Bird Song is located on a small bush block at the edge of Boddington town with the Hotham River reserve across the road and a large farm over the back fence. Bird Song is a 7 minute stroll into town which offers an IGA, bottle shops, cafes, playground, skate bowl and op shop. The path over the road leads to the beautiful Darminning (Ranford Pool) which is a favourite swimming hole. The space Bird Song is located on a residential bush block (<1 acre). You can drive up to the shack and park for easy access. The property is only partially fenced; please be careful with pets and kids as there is no front fence or gate onto Crossman road. Guests are welcome to pick anything from the fruit trees on the property and use the outdoor bath; it’s filled from a hose at the back door if you can handle cold water only! Other things to note We have consciously kept the shack “low tech”. There is no TV, no WiFi and no microwave (there is a coffee machine but we encourage guests to head into town for coffee and to show the local businesses some love). The toilet is our most sustainable feature as it is a composting system. You can read all about it in the loo. The furniture and contents are mostly vintage or secondhand, and the construction is mostly salvaged materials making the property purposefully low impact on the environment. To make the shack more comfortable we have a reverse-cycle air conditioner which we suggest is switched off whenever you leave the premises. We do supply a small amount of firewood sourced from timber salvaged on the property; this is only available when there is no fire risk in the district and we request guests mostly make use of the heating function on the AC if the weather is cold.
