A full apartment in a spacious Secret Garden rooftop with panoramic sunrises, blue skies & full moons in Cairo’s Downtown heritage center, just minute’s walk from markets, tourist attractions & central metro station. This newly renovated 70s apartment is minimalist, modern yet warm, a one-of-a-kind designer space in the heart of the capital, combining both urban & natural elements of Mediterranean architecture. As superhosts & artists we always try our best to make your stay a memorable one. The space The apartment has all the mod cons you would expect from a newly fully refurbished and renovated property. From the exterior lift area, you enter the property through a [locked] doorway into the apartment’s exterior private roof garden space which has plenty of sunlight, greenery and seating areas to relax in. From the outdoor rooftop area, another interior doorway takes you into the private apartment; a spacious open plan layout with a separate living room, bedroom, a standalone full kitchen and full private bathroom. A 30cm mattress, down-like pillows and our 100% Egyptian cotton linens and towels are a few of the luxury surprises you will experience at our tranquil and immaculately clean apartment. This is my second Airbnb property in Cairo which has attracted me (primarily as a designer) to renovate as I was drawn to its unique qualities; a sunny panoramic rooftop property with a spacious outdoor area which gave the possibility of having a “secret garden” overlooking the city - the tranquil greenery I always felt was necessary to retreat to in the center of Cairo .The design approach is both minimalist but warm and all the furniture pieces are unique and have been costume designed, renovated and refurbished for this 70s retro space. The private apartment, shares the spacious rooftop area with an adjacent apartment occupied by my co-host/partner; a poet, writer, journalist and musicologist who is available for any tips or support. The rooftop is large enough with separate seating areas to give you the needed privacy. We also have a herb garden which you can help yourself to at any time. The Atmosphere of the Space: Both my partner and I are from the creative industry, and we both have a great passion for Cairo and its interesting colourful stories. We also have a great passion for the arts and enjoy what culture has to offer. We surround ourselves with unique and genuine friends whom we also learn and grow from. We believe that all people have a right to experience beauty, and that is why we try to offer a very luxurious and comfortable hosting experience for our guests at affordable rates. Our priority in life is to be considerate and respectful of others and we both like our personal spaces to be calm, welcoming and relaxing. And from time to time, we gather with friends around a home-cooked delicious meal to share our stories, have a laugh and at times listen to improvised live sessions from Egypt's top professional musicians, writers, archeologists, academics, artists….We like to believe that our home is always friendly and welcoming. Other things to note HOUSE RULES: ARAB NATIONALS: I would like to point to an important house rule and I am obliged to mention this; Common Law in Egypt concerning hotel and furnished properties prohibits co-mixing between Arab couples who are not directly related. It would be difficult to invite opposite sex Arab nationals as guests into the property as it could be read as a breach of that law. That would include Egyptian nationals with foreign nationals. Please let us know about the other guests and if there are other female/male guests with u and whether or not they are related. NEW AIRBNB GUESTS: Our home policy maintains top standards, and we usually only accept bookings from guests with previously positively reviewed profiles. Having said so, we sometimes make an exception which we asses from our communication with interested guests. NOISE LEVELS: We like to interact with people but respect the needs of others, so we prefer that our home and spaces to be calming, relaxed and quiet. SHARING INFORMATION: Upon acceptance of your booking we share essential information needed from our guests to help us arrange our schedule for your arrival. It would help us better if u can provide this information as soon as you book (within a couple of days from booking). If u don’t happen to have the information, we of course can be very flexible but do let us know. We also ask that our guests can read any shared material provided as you will be needing it for your stay in our home. PROVIDING IDENTIFICATION: All guests are required to provide passport scans of all individuals using the property we need this information as we are required by formal authorities to register our guests. Please provide this information prior to arrival. HOUSE CLEANING: For guests staying over a week. There will be a charge sent to our guests of 15$ for each week over the first week stay which will go to cleaning. That will include change of linens and towels. SHARING ELECTRICITY EXPENSES If your booking exceeds 1 week then there is an extra cost per day of 1.5$ per day which would go into sharing a part of the electricity bill. EARLY CHECK IN/LATE CHECK OUT: Whether you need to have an early check in or late check out, it is possible if our schedule allows, but that would be for an extra charge of 4$/hr for early check in/out and 2.5$ for bag storage. For bag drop off please note: we reserve right to cancel booking if guests enter property. The cleaner works hard to hand it over at its best form and it disrupts the work when people enter (she only speaks Arabic and is shy to reiterate this point). ————————————————— TIPS & RECOMMENDATIONS; DRINK & DINE: There are many markets and restaurants around to buy food from, also available are online delivery options for lazier days through apps which we can share with you. We have also compiled a guide (in pdf format) which we can share with our guests upon request. EXTRA SERVICES - TRANSPORTATION: Most of our guests use a recommended airport pick up/drop off service of a reliable company we have been dealing with for many years (they are also familiar with the location of the apartment and have fixed prices). We can share their info upon request so guests can coordinate directly. They also offer chauffeur based service for trips inside and outside Cairo. Please let us know upon booking if you would require this service. EXTRA SERVICES - CLEANING: Our house carer and cleaning lady can come for cleaning days as per your request. Her fees are paid directly to her. Please let us know upon booking if you would require this service. EXTRA SERVICES - TOUR OPERATOR/GUIDE: We can put you in contact with a tour guide we recommend to most of our guests, who’ve been extremely pleased with her costume built recommendations and service. The tours are offered in most languages. Please let us know upon booking if you would require this service. EXTRA SERVICES - IRONING: In Egypt, we are lucky to have very affordable laundry and ironing service (delivery same day if ironing only). We can share with you and help you coordinate this if you are interested. SPECIAL CHECK IN SERVICES: To make your move comfortable and relaxed, we offer a complimentary check-in basics package: Fruit basket, Tea, [real] coffee, coffee maker, sugar, milk and one large bottle of water per guest booked. Also! For an extra charge we can shop for ur desired breakfast items prior to ur check in. ESSENTIALS PROVIDED: Toilet paper, soap, dishwashing soap & sponges, plastic bin bags, 1 set of bed linen per bed, one set of towels for each guest (for hair, hand and body). Also available on the premises is an automatic washing machine, a drying line and all the necessary cleaning utensils needed to clean the house.
