It is said that St. Francis visited the area from nearby Assisi and lived in the caves in the woods, one of which has a large cross engraved in the floor. The property overlooks the towns of Chianciano, Chiusi, Cortona and Citta’della Pieve and the lakes of Montepulciano, Chiusi and Trasimeno. From the site of the property there are several paths ideal for beautiful walks, totally immersed in silence, broken only by birdsong. In Windsor Castle there is a drawing by Leonardo da Vinci, who was called to the area by the De Medici family, which is a bird's eye view of the exact panorama seen from Villa San Bartolomeo.
