Description
Set close to the shore line within the village of Plockton, in the Skye and Lochalsh area of the Scottish Highlands, Iorram is a place of rest and relaxation, with all the amenities of a bustling Highland village on the doorstep. The space Iorram is a carefully-crafted cottage for two. The accommodation is comprised of a calm and relaxing kitchen, living and dining space, separate bedroom with king sized bed, and a small but luxurious bathroom. The main living space sits below a high vaulted ceiling, open to the locally sourced timber structure. Like all spaces in the house the natural terracotta tiles are underfloor heated, and a well-stocked wood burning stove makes sure you’ll be cosy all through the year. A large picture frame window looks out across the harbour, over to the dramatic hills beyond. The comfy linen sofa, or hand-crafted oak armchair are an ideal place to sit with a coffee, watching boats come and go. Built from insulating clay blocks, the space is lined in unpainted clay plaster, giving a soft and natural feel to the walls. The kitchen was made bespoke by a local carpenter, using the same timber as the roof structure. Careful sourcing is part of the ethos at Iorram, and we’ve chosen ceramics from some of our favourite potters, hand-carved spoons, as well as some characterful vintage pieces to elevate the everyday experience of cooking or making coffee. In the bedroom, you will sleep on a natural mattress, with all natural bedding from Woolroom. Bed linen is from Toast, with soft linen sheets. The bedroom is a very simple space, with a low timber ceiling, and guests have often commented on how relaxing it feels. The bathroom is possibly our favourite space in the house, and has been designed to feel private, cocooning and relaxing. Natural light comes from a frameless roof window, high above the shower. Lying in a deep bath, you can watch clouds passing over, or rain falling on the glass. The tiles are handmade, with walls, ceiling and shelving in Douglas fir. Around Iorram is a gated private garden, which we have designed to feel abundant and naturalistic, in the summer and autumn particularly. Huge flagstones from Caithness, in the north of Scotland, make a stepping stone path and south facing patio with a view. Other things to note Short Term Let Licence Number - HI-10742-F
