Welcome to Bear Country! We’re lucky to share this beautiful forest with incredible wildlife — including black bears. Bears are amazing to see… from a safe distance. Here’s how to keep them (and you!) safe during your stay: 1. Store Food Like a Local • Keep all food inside the cabin when not in use. • Never leave snacks, coolers, or drinks on the porch, deck, or in your car. • Clean the BBQ after each use — food smells travel far. 2. Use the Bear-Proof Bin • Place all trash in the locked bear bin outside. • Double-bag food waste and throw it away daily. • If the bin is full, keep trash inside until pick-up day. 3. Don’t Offer “Bear Room Service” • Never feed a bear (on purpose or by accident). • Remove bird feeders during your stay — they attract more than just birds. • Keep pet food indoors. 4. If You See a Bear • Stay calm and watch from indoors or your car. • Do not approach — even for the perfect photo. • If you’re outside: back away slowly, speak calmly, and never run. • Call us right away if a bear lingers around the cabin. 5. Why This Matters • Bears that get used to people lose their natural fear. • Habituated bears often need to be relocated, and sadly, many don’t survive. • By following these steps, you’re helping protect this special place and its wildlife. Thank you for keeping our cabin — and the bears — safe! Enjoy your stay and keep your camera ready… you never know who might wander by. 🏞️📸 Pet Policy for Mountain Breeze cabin We love welcoming guests who travel with their pets!
