Welcome to The Big Eddy, a riverfront oasis on the beautiful Kalama river in Washington state! Enjoy a variety of gardens, trails, and dedicated seating areas in the private grounds. And experience one of Kalama river's unique natural wonders with a private beach, swimming area, and fishing hole. The Big Eddy name was inspired by the natural river eddy caused by a massive boulder in front of the house. In the summer when the water is lower, the eddy exposes a sandy beach and private swimming hole. In the spring and winter, the eddy creates one of the best fishing holes on the river. The property includes three access points to the river. The house has everything you'll need for a stress-free getaway. Featuring a full kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, quartz countertops, a variety of bakeware, cookware, flatware, drinkware, coffee maker (drip, espresso, and Keurig), and coffee and tea bar. The open concept main level integrates the dining and living room. The living room includes a smart TV, electric fireplace, leather couch and two reclining leather chairs. Listen to music on the record player with options to connect bluetooth, smartphones, radio, or play a record from our collection. Two bedrooms with queen size beds sleep four comfortably. Both bedrooms have river views, smart TVs, blackout curtains and dedicated workspaces. The first bedroom is on the main living area; the second bedroom is an open loft. There's two full bathrooms with showers, the main level including a full size tub. The main level also includes a dedicated laundry area with a new high capacity washer and dryer set. The covered porch on the river's side includes two all-weather rocking chairs and an outdoor dining set for four on the main level. The ground level includes a bistro table set and three oversized nest chairs. The yard includes a propane firepit to enjoy campfires along the river's edge with four all weather Adirondack chairs. The area also includes a cedar picnic table on an elevated deck, as well as a small courtyard with a barbecue area leading to a separate studio and game room. The game room includes foosball, bar stools, and cornhole. The house is stocked with books and games including puzzles, board games, binoculars, and yard games. The home is in an area of limited cell service does not have service at the property. There is a landline and high speed wifi for streaming and wifi-enabled calling. The Kalama river is known for world-class fishing. The river is active all seasons, with tubers in the summers, fisherman in the fall, winter and spring, and year-round kayakers. We have one hardshell kayak and two hardshell paddle boards you’re welcome to use, as well as a variety of inflatable water rings. Wildlife is abundant around the property. Property is 35.5 miles (36 mins) to Vancouver, WA and 43.4 miles (44 mins) to PDX Airport with a stunning drive along the Kalama river. The house is located in a small private community. It’s tucked away from neighbors on a private drive. Please be respectful of neighbors with quiet time at 11pm. Guest access You'll have access to the entire house including the separate game studio and private grounds. Other things to note Please ensure all dogs are leashed or contained while on-site. The community has a no firearms policy. There are no firearms of any type allowed on-site, including air rifles such as BB guns, pellet guns, etc.
