It owes its name to the ancient customs house that, located there, controlled the traffic of salt in the Middle Ages. It is currently managed by Giulio and Tommaso Bocci, Orlando's great-grandchildren. The Tuscan farm covers 115 hectares, cultivated mainly with wheat, sunflowers, tomatoes and alfalfa, with a centuries-old olive grove.
