Gemünden Castle with swimming pool
Schloss Gemünden mit Schwimmbad
Description
The 13th-century castle towers above the village of Gemünden. A stay is like a journey back in time to centuries long past. Every door handle, piece of furniture or mural from times long past will enchant you. The historic and spacious rooms offer space and tranquility. Thanks to the thick castle walls, it is pleasantly cool even in midsummer. On the castle terrace under the linden trees, you can relax wonderfully and enjoy the view of the Soonwald opposite. The space Gemünden Castle is a special destination for all castle lovers. In the Hunsrück, it is almost unrivaled the only and most beautiful castle, which is still so well preserved. It has been family owned for over half a millennium. It was not until 2024 that it was made available to external guests for the first time. Weddings: Please feel free to contact us about our wedding package. You can rent the castle and the courtyard house for yourself and your guests (sleeps 15) and organize your celebration in the depot in the Schlosshof. Surroundings: Healthy time-out in nature - the surrounding Soonwald offers countless opportunities for walking and cycling! The premises: The castle offers plenty of space to relax on 600 sqm indoors and the 500 sqm terrace with garden and pool. The bedrooms: There are a total of three tower suites ("Antonius Tower Suite", "Lexi Tower Suite" and "Red Chapel Suite"), each sleeping four. In addition, there is a double room ("Tambach Room") and a single room ("Rolshausen Zimmer"). The castle thus sleeps 15 and is particularly suitable for families and groups. The rooms are all very spacious. More information about the rooms: There is a double bed in the tower suite "Red Chapel" (north-east tower 1st floor). In front of it is a separately accessible room with two single beds in it. Both rooms share a bathroom. In the "Lexi Tower Suite" (North East Tower 2nd floor) there is a large double bed in the back room and another double bed in the anteroom. The shared bathroom is accessible from both rooms. In the "Antonius Tower-Suite" (North-West Tower 2nd floor) there is a double bed in the back room and another double bed in the anteroom. The shared bathroom with a view of the forest behind and the village of Gemünden is accessible from the anteroom. A double bed is located in the "Tambach-Zimmer" (2nd floor south side). This includes a shower room right across the hallway. Next to the "Tambach room" (accessible from the hallway and with a connecting door from the "Tambach room") is the "Rolshausen room" with a single bed in it. The kitchen: In the kitchen with dining area (a large wooden table) is a large induction stove top (Bosch) and oven (Miele). There are also sufficient and tasteful dishes and glasses. For elegant diners, the Knights' Hall is right next to the kitchen. For cafe, there is a filter coffee machine on site and an Italian mocha pot (Caffettiera). Other spaces and pool: The large salon with three sofas and several armchairs on the ground floor offers further space to linger. From here you can access a small terrace and stone stairs down into the garden and pool. During the season (approx. June to early September), the pool is exclusively for our vacation guests from 10 am to 4:30 pm. After that, access to the garden and pool is reserved for the owner. General information about the castle: The former castle has been extensively renovated. We attach great importance to sustainability. We heat CO₂-neutral with a newly installed wood chip heater. We generate electricity from our own photovoltaic system. Since the floors and furniture are sometimes very sensitive, eating and drinking is only allowed in the kitchen and dining room. The house rules apply after moving in (stored here digitally and locally - please read through in advance) There are a variety of seating options on the terrace and garden areas. There are pillow tops for all seating furniture. The swimming pool is surrounded by a fence for the safety of the children. In addition to information about small groups: If each guest wants to have their own room, the layout can be arranged like this: the lock offers a total of four bathrooms - accordingly, four people/couples can stay in their own room with bathroom. Otherwise, there would be eight separate rooms - of which two pass-through rooms are - and bathrooms must be shared accordingly. For group bookings where each guest wishes to occupy their OWN ROOM, I charge an additional fee of €250. The reason: the room in the castle is very large. With this, we deny the higher effort, preparing the additional rooms for only one guest each. We will charge the additional fee manually after reservation. WiFi: There is Wi-Fi in the castle. But because of the thick castle walls, it is partly not accessible in the rooms. Only on the lower floor in the entrance area it is relatively strong. Additional services: For all barbecue lovers: There is a gas grill on request. For 40 euros per stay we provide you with the barbecue. This makes it wonderful to grill on the castle terrace! We are happy to provide a travel cot, changing table, and high chair for €10 each per stay. We welcome your dog. We charge 10 euros per day per dog for this. Bed linen and towels (for bathroom and pool) are included in the price. In addition, we provide towels for an extra charge per stay (5 euros per person per set). Please note: The castle and the outdoor area are listed as protected monuments. This requires special care in accordance with monument protection regulations. Preserving this unique atmosphere in this day and age involves considerable effort and cost. We ask that our guests appreciate this special circumstance. Guest access Via the entrance hall you come through the Knights' Hall, which can also be used for larger dinners, into the large castle kitchen with dining area. The amenities are basic but fully functional. Back in the hall, you come through the double wing door into the large living room. From there, a wide staircase leads to the garden with swimming pool. From the hall, the large stone staircase leads you to the first floor. There is the "Red Chapel" suite with "children's room" in the north tower. On the second floor is the "Lexi Tower" to the east side, to the south side is the "Rolshausen Room" overlooking the Soonwald and next to it the Tambach Room. In the southwest tower is the "Antonius Suite." A total of 15 people can stay overnight in the castle. The castle is divided in itself, with part of it still being used by the owner family. The owners can also be on site during the rental. Some cabinets with private contents and rooms are not accessible. The castle terrace is only partially exclusively at your disposal. The small area in front of the half-timbered part of the castle belongs to the private part. Other things to note What vacation guests love with us? The particularly original and historical experience in the house. Plus the majestic view across the village to the Soonwald from all rooms and the unique tranquility. Thanks to the thick castle walls, the house is pleasant and cool in a natural way even in summer. So you sleep fantastically here. Not least because Gemünden is also one of the recognized climates in Germany. From the house you can directly reach the numerous well signposted hiking trail of the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park without a car ride. Especially for children, it is a paradise with us: no cars and many play opportunities in the house, on the terrace and in nature. In the village of Schloss Gemünden, there is a supermarket, two churches, a pharmacy, a doctor's office, auto repair shops, 2 gas stations, and a tourist shop – everything is within walking distance of the apartment. In the immediate vicinity there is much to discover: some of the most beautiful hiking and biking trails in Germany are located in the Hunsrück (ex.: Soonwaldsteig in the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park, the Schinderhannespfad leads from Gemünden via Simmern to Kastellaun). Other highlights: the suspension bridge Geierlay, the wineries on the Middle Rhine, Mosel and Nahe, as well as the Koppenstein castle ruins. An individual guidebook is available through Airbnb. Crickets: For all barbecue lovers: There is a gas grill on request. For 40 euros per stay we provide you with the barbecue. This makes it wonderful to grill on the castle terrace!
