Situated in the heart of the Forest of Dean, you will find Colliers Cottage. An ex-colliers cottage that has been extensively renovated in 2024, it comprises 2 bedrooms (1 with en-suite), family bathroom, kitchen, lounge (with sofa bed), dining room and a large, fully fenced private garden with off road parking If you want a stay where you are surrounded by nature, look no further! This is an ideal location for keen walkers, runners and cyclists with off road trails just a short distance away The space Colliers Cottage is a stone built ex-miners cottage dating back to 1911. It is located in the historic, beautiful and serene Forest of Dean, between the River Severn and Wye Valley. We are located off a forestry track in the centre of the forest. The cottage is on a plot of a third of an acre of garden that is exclusively for the use of people staying. There are forestry tracks including the cycle trail (Collier’s Trail) accessible within 100 meters of the property (with no roads to cross). The house comprises 2 king size bedrooms, one with en-suite as well as a family bathroom upstairs. On the ground floor the house has a separate living room which can be used to sleep 2 others on a sofa bed, formal dining room with 6 chairs and a spacious kitchen with breakfast area/book nook. With the large garden and patios you will be able to take advantage of the sun all day long – there are plenty of areas in the shade for those who do not like the sun that much or who the sun doesn’t like! Within the property there is a wall mounted Smart TV, washing machine, dishwasher, Dolce Gusto coffee machine as well as other standard kitchen appliances. There is WiFi throughout with extremely good upload and download speeds. We keep a variety of books and boardgames in the property for all to enjoy. Bedroom 1 (The Yellow room) includes a dressing table, mirror, bedside tables and lamps with clothes storage behind the bed. This bedroom has access to the family bathroom across the landing. Bedroom 2 (The Orange room) includes a chest of drawers, mirror, bedside tables and lamps with hanging space also. This room has an en-suite bathroom with walk in shower. We have off road parking for 2 cars and others can park on the forestry track if needed. We are very happy to welcome your dog(s) with you. Please discuss prior to booking if you want to bring more than 2 dogs – dog bowls and a small crate can be supplied on request but canine bedding will need to be brought. We ask that dogs are kept downstairs, off the bedding and can provide a stair gate if needed The towns of Lydney, Coleford and Cinderford are all within 5 miles and these have all the shops, supermarkets and amenities you could need. Monmouth is close by and has more independent shops If you want to explore further afield then it is a 30-45 minute drive to the cities of Bristol or Gloucester and the historic Town of Cheltenham Spa. Cardiff is located a little further away as is Birmingham but both can be gotten to from Lydney Train station 5 miles from Collier’s Cottage. There is plenty to do in the forest including Go-Ape, the Sculpture Trail, Symonds Yat Rock, Dean Forest Steam Railway, Clearwell Caves, Puzzle Wood, Tintern Abbey – several within walking distance. Outdoor pursuits include canoeing, cycling, climbing and walking. There is so much to see and to do! The Rising Sun pub on Moseley Green is a 5-10 minute walk away and we also have the historical Speech House located 2 miles up the road (40 minute walk or a 5 minute drive). Both venues serve food and drink if you don’t fancy cooking during your stay. We have made various videos and taken many pictures that document the transformation of Collier’s Cottage on Insta. Just search “collierscottagefod”. Guest access Guest will have access to the whole cottage and garden for the duration of their stay. Colliers Cottage is accessed via a sloping footpath from the car park down to the house itself There is a third of an acre of land that is perfect for dogs to run around and for kids to play in.
