Description

Retreat to the woods at The Granary, a converted grain store providing original character and features. An ideal romantic getaway for couples, those visiting family and friends, or somewhere to base yourself for a weekend of walking in the chilterns; this cosy cabin is perfect for those looking to get away from it all. Set on a working stable yard surrounded by private ancient woodland – accessible to guests – escape the rush whilst being under an hour away from London. The space Kitchen: A modern kitchen and breakfast bar but with limited cooking facilities - portable table top electric hot plate; microwave oven (with oven capability); large air fryer; fridge (with ice box); toaster; kettle; plenty of crockery. I'm afraid the kitchen is not designed for gourmet/accomplished meal preparations so if cooking is a big part of your time, maybe this is not the place. Living space: A sofa, comfy armchair, bookshelves and TV make up this open-plan living area. Bathroom: A modern bathroom with large shower. Bedroom: A comfy superking-sized bed with stunning views out into our private woodland, with seating on the rear balcony immersing you among the trees. Mezzanine: There is a mezzanine above the kitchen containing a desk and chair which can be used as a dedicated work space. This is accessed by a paddle staircase- we do not recommend guests with any mobility issues use these as they are quite steep and potentially hazardous. Please only use the mezzanine if you feel comfortable with this. Outside: The Granary has front and rear verandas with outdoor seating, perfect for a summer evening. The granary is surrounded by the woods to the sides and rear, with a gate at the front leading to a private parking area. We ask that visitors please respect our privacy and do not wander too close to the house, enter the stable yard, or approach the horses at any time. Surrounding us are 70 acres of private woods which the guests are welcome to use. These woods can take you onto an ancient drovers path through to picturesque Little Missenden which has two pubs. PLEASE CHECK THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE HOUSE RULES PRIOR TO BOOKING. Nearby: Situated in the Chiltern hills, there is plenty of hiking and biking for guests to do. We recommend the nearby Wendover woods, Coombe hill, or National Trust’s Hughenden Manor grounds as lovely walking spots. The nearby villages of Little Missenden (a lovely 40 minute walk from the Lodge), Great Missenden, Wendover, and Old Amersham provide ample places to find a great pub, museum, or local boutique shop, as well as general facilities. Beaconsfield has the world famous model village and the old town many wonderful places to eat. Great Missenden station is 10 minutes drive away, and Beaconsfield and High Wycombe stations are 15 minutes. All provide easy direct access to London. There is a supermarket and chemist a short drive away in Hazlemere and a large Tesco in Amersham. Guest access We are most easily accessed by car. The Granary is down the end of a half mile long track which looks like it leads to nowhere (which it does, except us!). On arrival you will be provided with a remote to access the property at any time. Parking is available on site. Entry to the Granary is from the front of the building, with clear signs to guide you. Guests have access to the Granary and surrounding woods. The main house, The Lodge, fields, and stables are all off limits. Other things to note Safety: We do not have a fire extinguisher in the Granary but do have a fire blanket. As mentioned, we do not advise using the paddle stairs leading to the mezzanine. No children. TV: Small digital TV with free to air channels available. The woodland is part of an ongoing environmental management programme and forestry work maybe happening while on your stay. We will advise you if this is the case. The paths are therefore a little rutted and muddy in wet weather. Occasionally we have sheep in our fields. GUESTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CHARGE ELECTRIC VEHICLES AT ANY TIME
