JokiLaakso is a traditional old-fashioned grandma, a grandma's cottage, the first part of which was built in the 1920s. It is located in the tranquility of the countryside, under the aurora borealis and in the light of summer nights, but only 500m from the 4-way. It's also a great place for a milestone on the way north. Downstairs there is a bedroom, kitchen, laundry facilities, sauna, utility room and living room. Upstairs, sleeping spaces will be completed 1-2/26. Kitchen equipment serves a more demanding cook/baker. Modern heating. The space The yard of the JokiLaakso represents the traditional Finnish building tradition and culture. ( CORRECT english below ) Its sunny and sheltered yard borders a barn and field. Neighbors are just one farmhouse that serves as a summer cottage, and the JokiLaakso has its own riverfront. So it's perfect for those who want some privacy and quiet! You can easily row along the Olhavan River or paddle all the way to the High Sea. The river valley has its own boat in use in the summer, but no life jackets, which we recommend using. The house has an air source heat pump that cools in the summer and gives more heat in the winter. The sleeping chamber is a gem of a home with more than 100 years of age. In the renovation of '24, the insulation of the room was renewed and a good hair and makeup mirror were placed in the room. A high-quality bed comes with a double bed and provides a good night's sleep. As the sauna fresh under the blanket, you can imagine being in a safe and atmospheric chamber of Grandma. Bed linens can be found in a chamber bed drawer. The living room has been renovated and its insulation has been replaced from floor to ceiling in -24. At the same time, the old original -20's log wall was brought up. What kind of story those old walls would tell a hundred years ago... There's a TV hidden behind the doors of the Old Nivala cinema, and the story tells that these doors could even be walked to the gig by a Metallica band! A plush couch takes you into a gentle embrace and spreads out of the couch for a double bed that's great for sleeping. The coffee table is an old kapio chest, telling its own story. The dining area attached to the living room can accommodate up to 8 people, so there's room for a feast dinner. There are wine glasses, soup bowl, and tableware in the cabinet. More info below the pictures in the kitchen. In the river, there is also the possibility to have a small party of about 20 people, for which you need coffee cups with sets. There are plates for about 20 people. Pirtin, the kitchen side has been renovated a few years ago, and in its peaceful atmosphere, you can enjoy breakfast, look at the scenery behind the window, and meditate on what to do today. The kitchen is equipped for the needs of a more demanding cook and baker. More info under the photos in the kitchen. The upper floor is currently under renovation and the new premises will be completed in January-February 2026. After the renovation, JokiLaakso can accommodate 8-10 people. The staircase has been moved to a better and easier place and more beds can be added upstairs. We'll add photos when the renovation is complete. The sauna is wood-burning and renovated -24. The benches are completely new. This sauna heats up quickly and makes you calm and relax. The bathroom and toilet have been renovated -25. There is a utility room in the same space. At the same time, the porch/entrance was renovated. There is a wood-burning outdoor Kota grill outside to serve those who like to cook with an authentic fire. In the JokiLaaks, we strive for ecology, and so please note the trash breakdown. Glass, radiators, cardboard, paper, and plastic are collected in their own containers. Likewise, biowaste. There are several tour destinations in the Olhava and Yli-Olhava area, for example, where you can make fires and fry sausage. For a longer stay, you can ask for a quote. JokiLaakso also offers the possibility of holding small parties of around 20 people, for which coffee cups and cutlery are required. There are plates for around 20 people. The kitchen area was renovated a few years ago and in its peaceful atmosphere you can enjoy breakfast, look at the scenery outside the window and think about what you would like to do today. Trash cans are located in the same space. JokiLaakso has its own beach with a rowing boat for guests. Along Olhavanjoki, you can reach Olhava's Paussi cafe and Perämeri. There are no life jackets in JokiLaakso for the time being. In the next few years, the so called summer room will be at the end of the barn, where you can sleep in the summer. Guests will not have access to the rest of the barn. The barn serves as a host's warehouse and is in the middle of a renovation. It is not allowed to enter the construction site for safety reasons. There is a barn on the edge of the field that is not available to guests. Other things to note ATTENTION! (English below) Linens/ sheets or shower towels ARE NOT included in the rental price. - Sheets: €15/ person - Shower towel: 5€ / person - The need for children / baby duvet or sheets to be disclosed separately. Bed sheets 15€ / person. - Possibility to borrow two travel cots. - Electric car charging €15/day The guest will take care of the final cleaning. Important: The river valley should be left in the condition, as clean as it was when you got there. The beds must be fully made, the floors are vacuumed, including the wooden trash in the sauna, the toilet and its surroundings clean, the dishes washed and the dishwasher emptied, the kitchen counters wiped, etc. Attention! The dishwasher or laundry machine should not be left on when checking out. Their taps should be closed. The oven peelboards should always be closed when the oven is not in use and the embers are extinguished. If the guest has not done the final cleaning, the cleaning will be charged at €50 per hour. Payment for cleaning by invoice (for information to companies) the minimum charge is 50€ due to the invoicing work. If the guest wants to take the final cleaning, it must be arranged before arrival. The baking oven may only be heated by those staying for longer periods of time, for a week or more. First, the host is always instructed on how to heat the oven. The oven has its own owls, which you need to know before heating it. The oven can be heated by the host by arrangement. No smoking or use of e-cigarettes in the buildings. All smoking must be done outside. Cigarette butts should not be thrown on the ground, they should be collected in a container that can be disposed of in mixed waste. Not in the metal can/metals. Guests should take care not to throw any burning cigarettes in the trash. The ashes are taken outside in the designated container. Multi-day visitors should empty the ashes in the sauna after every second sauna bathing, when the ashes are no longer hot /the next day. Bottles and cans can be left in the designated container. Pledge-free plastic bottles are included in the plastic collection. The oven in the kitchen may only be heated by guests staying for a longer period of time, at least a week. Guests are always instructed on how to heat the oven first.
