A home of ease and warmth in the heart of nature and the countryside, 3-5 min from Ballinasloe town, on the R355, and just 90 seconds from the M6 Motorway. The ideal place to stay if arriving or leaving from Dublin airport as it is 1.5hours by car depending on traffic. On walking trail, the Beara Breifne Way. Golf course across the road. Train station 4.5km, Buses 2.5 km, excellent taxi service. Within 20-25 minutes to Portumna, Loughrea, and Athlone. Valerie and Fiachra are your hosts. The space We live a little outside the town so it is surrounded by nature, peaceful and quiet. There is great light in the house purposely to give guest a lift in spirit and also at the same time providing a tranquil environment. HISTORICAL TOUR/TRAIL - Includes the 1691 battle of Aughrim, Ireland’s game changer and most decisive battle in Irish History. Visiting a restored authentic Irish Castle, Clonony Castle. A river Fortification crossing on the River Shannon. Also a historical tour of Ballinasloe can be arranged. Portumna Castle & Gardens built in early 17th century. Portumna recently restored authentic famine work house. 2. ECCLESIASTICAL TOUR/TRAIL - Clonmacnois a 6th century monastic site located on the banks of the river Shannon. Clontuskert Abbey, a national monument and medieval Augustinian Priory. 6th Century Clonfert Cathedral founded by St Brendan the Navigator who is buried there. Meelick Franciscan church the oldest used Roman Catholic church in Ireland. Kilconnell medieval Franciscan Friary. 3. WALKING TOURS/TRAILS - Hymany section of Beara Breifne Way. Aughrim Battle field Walk. Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge through bogland, wetlands, along the banks of old grand canal. Ballinasloe to Clonfert bog/canal/wetlands walk. Aughrim to Killure Bog walk.
