The cottage is located within 20 minutes from the Aberdare Mountain Range, which offers gorgeous waterfalls, incredible hiking, and world famous fishing, alongside some of the rarest wildlife in East Africa. Guest access This is a perfect place in which to unwind and relax, but please note that you will require a vehicle to access the house. You can drive to the dam (20 mins) and upon pre-arrangement be guided on a walk around the dam. Walking outside of the fence around the house is not permitted due to wildlife. Other things to note This beautiful home is set within a scenic wildlife conservancy at the foot hill of Mount Kenya, The Aberdare Range, The Lolldaiga Hills; that has its own conservation fees. In order to confirm a booking, the fees are payable at least 24 hours before your arrival to the host and unfortunately not to the conservancy. This can be done either via bank transfer or M-Pesa. CONSERVANCY RATES: $70 for non-residents (per person per night) 2,750 KES for residents 500 KES for per vehicle Half price for children under 12 The work that is done at the conservancy, requires funding therefore these rates help maintain the conservation efforts including but not limited to: taking care of the wildlife, the clean rivers etc... Walking unescorted from the house is highly unadvised, due to the risk of potentially dangerous game animals. Sangare is a private conservancy, home to elephants, leopards, buffalos, giraffes, as well as a variety of wonderful birdlife. Access to horseback riding is also available, upon request and depending on availability. Game drives around the conservancy, walks beside the large dam, and or drives to the Aberdare National park or nearby Solio ranch are all very easy.
