Tropical Hacienda del Mar
Situated on 9 acres, this 3 bedroom beachfront home (with infinity pool) is a perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in nature. Watch the waves from the porch, take in the beautiful sunsets from the hammock, and stroll the property to pick fruit from our trees. Surf uncrowded waves, walk down secluded beaches and experience all that Northern Nicaragua has to offer. The space Hacienda del Mar is the perfect place to to get away from the grind and connect with nature. From your hammock, enjoy the vistas of the ocean, the volcanos in the distance, and the hundreds of tropical birds all around. Hacienda del Mar was rehabbed from a 50+ year-old cotton barn, keeping the integrity of the original rustic design structure yet adding modern and updated features. The house has all the conveniences you need such as WiFi, air conditioning in two bedrooms, comfortable beds and linens, and a fully equipped kitchen and pool. This home is rustic yet artistically designed. There is an upper loft area, a catwalk around the entire upper level of the house, and large wrap around porch with hammocks, lounge chairs, rocking chairs and plenty of hang out space. There is an additional outside cooking area with a charcoal grill, sink, plenty of counter space and bar. There are 3 bedrooms in total; two bedrooms have A/C, comfortable King size beds, a desk, a closet with shelving for clothing, and an ensuite bathroom in each. The third bedroom is a small child's room, with a twin-size bed, and night stand. The room has a fan, and if you leave the door to the adjoining bedroom open, the AC unit in the primary bedroom cools down that room as well. There is a door joining the two bedrooms, and it also has a door to the living room. There is an additional powder room, and an outside shower - originally an old grain silo made out of a giant tree trunk! The whole upper level is a loft with beautiful wide planked hardwood floors. There are 3 beds (2 queen, 1 double) and fans, but we have not included it as a "bedroom" because of lack of privacy and bathroom. It can get quite hot upstairs. The home sits on 9 acres of land, that leads down to the beach. From the house to the beach is just a 400 meter walk down the driveway. The property is full of fruit trees for you to enjoy depending on the season - limes, sour oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, dragon fruit, guava, mangos, cashew and avocado! Northern Nicaragua is an adventurer's paradise. Kayak in one of the largest protected estuaries in the country, hike enchanting volcanoes, surf uncrowded waves, or go horseback riding down pristine beaches. There are a handful of restaurants in the area if you don't feel like cooking. Daily housekeeping is included (except for sundays). Relax, surf uncrowded waves, swim at secluded beaches and enjoy the pristine beauty and authenticity of Northern Nicaragua! Guest access You have access to just about everything. There is a washing machine in our storage closet but we would prefer our housekeeper use it for you - just let her know that you would like your clothes or linens washed and she will take care of it. Housekeeping comes daily (mon-fri) from 8-3 (sat) 8-12 to clean - though we can be flexible. The whole property is yours to explore. Other things to note There are a number of surf breaks in the area. If this is of interest we can send you a summary of the breaks and maps of their locations. If you would like to go on any tours (hiking volcanos, kayaking, horseback riding, surf tours) we can put you in contact with guides. We like to recommend local guides, however the language barrier may be an issue. If so, there are your companies based out of Leon. I can also help arrange a massage at the house. Very infrequently, there are power outages and they usually only last for a few hours. We have a back up generator that will run the lights, fridges and fans. Electricity is incredibly expensive in Nicaragua. Please turn off all AC units when not in use. They will be turned off for you if you forget. This house is not "child-proofed". There are no railings on the porch, and the steps to the loft area are steep with windows that are easy to open. Slippery concrete floors and lots of cacti. This home may not be appropriate for young children. Please consider that this area of Nicaragua is not touristy. You may not find the conveniences of tourist destinations, but you will find natural beauty and authentic interaction. This home is rustic and fairly open to the elements. You may find insects, geckos or other critters occupying the home, especially if you leave the doors open. Please do not leave food or sugary drinks out, nor leave dirty dishes out our overnight. Ants will come! We routinely fumigate and clean daily, but we cannot control all aspects of nature - especially at the beach.
