Welcome to the bright and cheerful Hazel Studio! This airy space is stylishly appointed and ready to become your home base as you visit our beautiful part of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula, and the quaint town of Poulsbo. Hazel Studio is one of two rental units on our property, and is located upstairs, above our garage. You'll have your own entrance, with an easy keypad lock, that will usher you into the interior stairwell. Soft glowing step lights will guide you up the stairs, even if you arrive late into the night. With vaulted ceilings, ten windows, and a clean, neutral color palette, the space is radiant regardless of the conditions outside. The ductless mini split system is super quiet, energy efficient, and will heat or cool to keep the temperature just right. If you require total darkness to get a good night’s sleep, fear not! Our custom blackout shades pull down easily to provide a dark sleep environment. If you prefer to wake naturally with the daylight, the east-facing bed nook will provide an energetic way to greet the day. The queen-sized, memory foam mattress is firm and supportive, and the feather down comforter and pillows are plush and luxurious. *Please keep in mind that the bed is positioned up against two walls, and there is a sloped ceiling on the entry side, so this may not be the ideal space for those who are mobility challenged. The kitchenette provides you with a retro-style mini fridge, a portable, single induction burner, a convection microwave oven, a toaster, and an electric kettle. We also supply instant coffee and a variety of teas. Our kitchenette contains the basic tools for simple meal preparation, and some staple pantry seasonings. Lovingly collected and curated pieces furnish the Studio, and every effort has been made to maximize the small space while maintaining a gracious, open feel. Reducing our environmental impact, while providing the best possible guest experience, is a high priority for us, and we are continually seeking out ways to further this goal. You will find these efforts throughout the Studio space; from the use of natural materials in the furnishings, to compostable trash bags, dishwashing tools, and eco laundry detergent. We clean the space using natural products and ingredients, and we prioritize zero-waste packaging. A few things to note: *This is our full-time home, and we really live here! We have help in managing our spaces when we travel ourselves, but this is a business and a lifestyle that we find incredibly fulfilling and for which we take great pride. As such, you will see us working around our yard and property, as it is a constant work in progress. We have many interests and hobbies, and so those may also be visible at times. We are always cognizant of not disturbing our guests, so noise-generating activity will typically not take place during generally observed quiet hours. *The opening of the garage doors is slightly audible, but the openers are the smoothest and quietest available, and we won’t be using them earlier than 8:00am. *Because we live here, we also have friends and family over, and while we entertain our own guests in the private portion of our house and yard, it may at times be visible and/or audible. *We also have another guest suite listed on AirBnB, and those guests will also be accessing their own private entrance on the back side of the main house. *At this time, there is no dedicated outdoor space for Hazel Studio guests, however we hope to change this in the near future! *While there is no parking on our property itself at this time, the adjacent street parking is plentiful. At this time guests have access only to the studio space above the garage. In the future we hope to have an outdoor space for guest use, but we're not quite there yet. We are a couple with non-traditional schedules, so you may or may not see us around during your stay, but we are easy-going and always willing to answer questions or give local recommendations. Our neighborhood is the heart of "Old Town" Poulsbo, and is perfectly positioned for so many activities! It's a pleasant, 6 minute walk to Historic Downtown Poulsbo, with its wonderful shops, restaurants, and the gorgeous waterfront park. Starbucks is a five minute walk away. There is a bus stop just two blocks from our house, from which you can catch the #390 bus to the Bainbridge ferry, and hop over to Seattle. We are located just a block from a main bus line, but the best option for seeing the area is by car. We are happy to offer advice on the local transit options.
