Lakefront Home, Magical Garden and Double Sunset

Description

Waking up to the sound of birds. Breakfast in the garden, in the shade of the olive trees, and magical sunsets at the end of the day. At Riverlake House, it's not just a lake view - it's having the water right at your doorstep, and a river beach nearby. Riverlake House is a traditional stone house by the lake, with a private garden and water at 30°C in the summer. Surrounded by nature and with a magical garden. A place where time seems to stand still 90min from Lisbon and Porto The space Visit our IG @riverlakehouse for more photos and videos of the house and surrounding area. Riverlake House is located in the small village of Fernandaires, right in the heart of Portugal, between Lisbon and Porto, approximately 90 minutes from both. Many guests arrive with plans to visit a new place every day. Many leave wishing they had simply booked more days to be in the house and garden. ★ What Riverlake House guests say This isn't us saying it. It's the guests: — “There's a magic to this house and this place that's indescribable, and the birdsong every morning was soul-stirring.” — Sonya, Pennsylvania (USA) — “The house is great, but the outdoors is even better.” — Monika, Berlin — “I discovered the second sunset all by myself. I give it 5 diamond stars.” — Jordan, Montreal, Canada — “My only regret was not staying longer.” —Nicholas, Edmonton, Canada And more than one guest has told us, each in their own words: in reality, it's even more beautiful than in the photos. ★ Riverlake Moments i. Morning Mirror — On calm mornings, the lake is so still that it reflects the green hills like a mirror. It's worth going out before breakfast just to see it. ii. The Double Sunset — In the late afternoon there's always a sunset in the garden. But the most observant guests discover that, two minutes away by car, at the Fernandaires viewpoint, there's a second, completely different one, 30 minutes later. iii. Starry Sky — At night, far from the city lights, the sky fills with stars like few other places still offer. It's worth stopping for a minute and looking up. ★ Explore the region (whenever you feel like it) Within a short drive there is much to discover: Dornes and its Templar tower emerging from the water The Convent of Christ in Tomar (UNESCO World Heritage Site) The fairytale castle of Almourol on an island in the middle of the river, and the region's schist villages. Caves, waterfalls and increasingly popular wooden walkways complete the itinerary, not forgetting Fátima, with one of the most visited sanctuaries in the world. Literally a minute's walk away there are also hiking trails and viewpoints with breathtaking views. ★ The garden and outdoor life The house is only part of the experience. The garden, with its own olive trees (we make our extra-virgin olive oil), fruit trees, flowers, hammocks in the shade and board games, is where most guests end up spending the most time. There are areas for eating, reading, doing yoga or simply doing nothing. Depending on the season, lemons, oranges, and homemade jams await you on arrival. Barbecue and aromatic herbs from the garden are available. It's not just seeing the lake from the garden. It's stepping out the gate and, a few steps later, being on the water — the Fernandaires river beach, a top quality blue flag beach, is right next door. Lake Castelo do Bode has 42 km² navigable year-round, with warm and inviting water for much of the year. There is a ramp for boat and jet ski access near the house. ★ Bedrooms and interior spaces Bedroom 1: 160x200cm double bed, window overlooking the garden and lake. Bedroom 2: 140x200cm double bed on the mezzanine, which opens onto the dining room, window overlooking the lake with a magnificent view upon waking. Living room: Smart TV with Netflix, direct lake view, wood-burning stove, and air conditioning for warmer or cooler days. Fully equipped kitchen Starlink internet above 300 Mbps. ★ Jacuzzi (Autumn/Winter) We have a heated jacuzzi overlooking the lake — the perfect companion for cooler autumn and winter nights, when that extra warmth makes all the difference after a day outdoors. Write to us to book or ask questions. ★ Supermarkets, shops, and restaurants are a 15-20 minute drive away. It's the price of tranquility: it keeps the area peaceful, authentic, and with well-preserved nature. If you plan on cooking, it's worth doing a larger grocery shop along the way. If you're looking for a smaller space, check out the Riverlake guesthouse on our profile — 1 bedroom, living room with sofa bed, kitchenette, and private bathroom. ★ Frequently Asked Questions — Are we alone on the property? There is a second, smaller house - the Riverlake guesthouse - on the same property, but each house has its own entrance, parking, and garden, with no common or shared areas between the two. You will never feel like you are sharing your stay with anyone. — What is the house like in summer/winter? The traditional stone walls keep the house well insulated throughout the year. The common areas have air conditioning; in winter, the bedrooms have heaters and the living room, in addition to air conditioning, also has a fireplace/wood-burning stove for cooler evenings and the perfect cozy atmosphere. — Are you very isolated? Is there noise nearby? It's a rural area, with other houses in the surroundings — occasionally you might hear a dog barking in the distance, or birds in our garden. If you are looking for the absolute silence of a studio apartment, the real countryside is more unpredictable than this. And, almost always, more beautiful. — Is it accessible for young children or people with reduced mobility? Children usually love it (the garden is huge and there's plenty to explore), but there are some steps on the property, so extra attention is needed. For reduced mobility, please speak to us before booking. We are not a five-star hotel or a city apartment. We are a traditional stone house, designed for those who truly want to slow down — if what you are looking for is peace, nature and a place where you feel at home, you will feel in the right place. Guest access The property has two independent houses — Riverlake House and Riverlake guesthouse — each with its own entrance, parking, garden, and dining area. There are no common or shared areas between the two houses: guests of each always have their own space, even though they are on the same property. Access to the entire garden area of Riverlake House, including areas with lake views and the dining area. There are more secluded spaces and others facing the water to choose from. The house is rustic and has some steps on the property, so it may not be ideal for people with reduced mobility. Contact us if you need more details. Other things to note The tap water is safe and drinkable. There are mosquito nets on the windows and mosquito repellent devices if needed — generally, keeping the doors closed is sufficient for peace of mind. There is a security camera at the entrance door, the only one, to protect the house and guests' belongings. We do not access this camera during stays, except in case of emergency. To ensure we can welcome you, Portuguese law requires all guests to share their identification details before check-in. This is a mandatory procedure for tourist stays. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and guarantee the complete security of your data! Registration details: 156609/AL Registration Details 156609/AL
