A spacious wrap-around veranda overlooks flowering terraces; while the interior offers abundant common space (2 kitchens, sunroom, dining, living, deck, grill). Private rooms come with personal TV, DVD, and guest accounts for Netflix, Hulu, Prime, and HBOnow. Organic raised bed garden in back. Adjacent to YMCA (with pool). Third floor bedroom, with window AC unit for personalized climate control. With the feel of a European hostel, we have guests from all over the world. The 1st and 2nd floor provide two lightly stocked kitchens where you can snack on anything that is not labeled with another guests name. There are two bathrooms with renewable bamboo toilet paper and other toiletries. Ample common space, both indoors and out (dining room, living room, sunroom, veranda). Three security cameras protecting entries. Towels, linens, fans, space heaters, cleaning supplies and hospitality items are provided in the room. Your room is private and the two bathrooms are shared but have a locking door for privacy. All non-bed-room spaces are shared. Apart from the private rooms, guests will have access to a full kitchen on the first floor, as well as an efficiency kitchen on the second. Living room, dining room, sun room, full (shower/bath) bathroom on second floor, 3/4 (standing shower) bathroom on first floor, and the foyer are all available to guests 24/7. Outside, guests can enjoy the wrap-around veranda, backyard deck, grill, raised bed vegetable/spice gardens, and native flowers. On the day of your reservation, as soon as your room is clean and ready, we will send you the door codes so that you may come and go as you please. I strive to provide a clean, safe and homey space for my guests and I always welcome any suggestions you might have to improve the space The 'West End' is a mainly residential neighborhood of historic houses and lies (you guested it) just West (and a bit North) of the 'Central West End': one of STL's trendiest and haute-est neighborhoods. Solar Urban Oasis rests just a 5 minute drive from Forest Park, one of the nations largest urban parks (well eclipsing NYC's Central Park (840ac), with roughly 1300 acres. Forest Park houses many cultural icons of St.Louis: the expansive and FREE art museum; one of the country's last FREE zoos; one of the largest outdoor summerstocks in the Americas (The MUNY, w/FREE seats in the back); a boathouse, and Shakespeare glenne, a golfcourse, miles upon miles of trail, et cetera ad nauseam. Just a bit further West is the Delmar Loop, home of the Pageant (amongst other venues), Wash U, and international cuisine marketed toward college/concert goers. To the Southeast, you will find The Grove, on Manchester: a great option for barhopping and local acts. The North side of Forest Park is more residential and less crowded than those to the South, making commuting less troublesome. Solar Urban Oasis resides North of the Delmar Divide. At last census, the neighborhood was 66.1% Black, 23.6% White, 4.6% Hispanic. If those numbers make you uncomfortable, please consider other options. Discrimination will be met with only the minimum of civility. Openness and kindness will be matched in hospitality. The greenway starts 2 blocks away and heads straight (2 miles) to the Museum in Forest Park. Delmar Loop and Central West End are 2 miles away. Within 5 miles are the Zoo, Science Center, Fabulous Fox Theatre, Mo Botanial Gardens, Tower Grove and the City Museum. The Arch is 6.5 miles away, as is the Cardinal Stadium or Soulard. Cherokee Street or the Anheuser-Busch Brewery are only 8 miles away. We are vested stakeholders in the West End where the neighborhood association is planning improvements soon to the tune of $40 million. St Louis is a city and cities can be dangerous. Residential areas tend to have less crime than the commercial areas. Our neighborhood has a population of about 7000 people and offers an urban feel with many families and young professionals. Residents tend to be liberal, median income is only $43,306 and the median home value is $188,786. Your route to our property passes areas that have more abandoned houses. Those along Page Ave have been purchased for renovation by a developer, yet they have been slow to start. Our area has an active HOA that keeps out absent landlords, begging on the street corners, trash build up, abandoned cars...and tries to set conditions for a safer environment. We report bad actors to the police and have a very good relationship with law enforcement. Metrolink Red and Blue lines within walking distance. Easy access to main driving routes. Scooter and Lime bikes rentals are close by. Taxi or Uber always available. Since there are 5 other guest rooms in this facility, the other guests deserve the quiet enjoyment of their stay. Each room is listed with the maximum number of allowed adults. Additional adults are not allowed for both day-time and night-time. Violators will have their reservation cancelled without refund. With health concern everywhere... Did you know… The safest place to sleep is between the sheets: suitcases and backpacks can transfer their germs to the bedspread or chair. (note: there is a suitcase caddy in the closet) I use a disinfectant on all handles, knobs, remotes, light switches, keypads, chair tops and countertops to keep the germs at bay after every checkout. I am usually a chemical free environment but with an abundance of caution I do use chemicals in some spots. I have tissues (made from bamboo) available in almost every room for sneezes and coughs (please be considerate of other guests).
