Contemporary farmhouse with sauna and a great selection of books on a private 700 hectare property outside Borgarnes on the way to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Approached via a two kilometre private road - this is as secluded a place as you can find. You will cancel your plans and not want to leave the house. The landscape is magnificent as are the views in all directions. Two small lakes are home to a variety of birds including a pair of eagles who visit in late summer and throughout winter. The space This is a brand new house designed by David Pitt Architects, completed in 2024, built of concrete and clad with siberian larch. The main floor has a mud room, bathroom, open space kitchen, dining and living room, as well as one double bedroom with outdoor access. The upper floor has two double bedrooms, a bathroom and workspace. There is a sauna, outdoor shower and a great selection of books. We built this house for ourselves and our two kids who like to bring their friends to stay. We tend to start the day with an outdoor shower, and end each day with a good session in the sauna finished by a cold bath in the river. Please note that all the bedrooms are small. The total size of the house - excluding the outbuilding - is around 130square metres. Guest access Our guests have sole use of the house and the surrounding land.
